Passenger drop off at Hollywood Studios

We will drive to Disney World from the airport and I plan to drop off my wife and kids at Hollywood studios prior to checking in at the AKL resort. Is this still possible? A friend told me that we are not allowed to drop off guest at the park any longer.

Never heard of not being able to drop people off. It would be very odd if they made that change. And I can't fathom why that would be.

The only thing I can think of is that you can't drop anyone off at the gate of the Magic Kingdom. When going there guests would have to be dropped off at the Ticket and Transportation Center and then boat or monorail over to MK. But at all the other parks, guests can be dropped off pretty much at the gate of the park.

@dansdad is it possible they are thinking that they will have to pay for parking for the dropoff since they won't have checked in yet?

If they show their resort reservation and tell them the father is going over to AKL to check in I can't see that there would be a problem, unless they changed that too. Use online check-in so you are set to go? That may solve that problem, resort guests=free parking.
