....as the CM on Phantom Manor called out this week. I hope I don't offend anybody here who does this but......................
I wish that people would not use flash photgraphy on a ride that is meant to be dark.

This seems to happen most on POTC - perhaps people will say I'm being picky, but when I am going around the first bit, just after the Blue Lagoon restaurant, it is quiet and dark and atmospheric and.......FLASH.....somebody right behind me takes a photo, the flash blinds me as I am looking to the side to take things in.......and I know I am in for one of those rides. All the way round flash, flash, flash. They can't be actually enjoying the ride and the stupid things is that with a lot of cameras the photos won't even come out very well.

The rules say that no flash photography is to be used on rides..... so please please please, Joe Public, follow the rules. It may seem as if it doesn't hurt anybody else, but it does spoil the ride somewhat for me. The Imagineers light each ride carefully and the constant flashes undo their good work.

Okay - moan over, normal service will be resumed shortly.

hildasmuriel you have every right to speak out against ignorant fools who choose to ignore the rules. This obviously takes the enjoyment away for the average guest who just wants to sit back and enjoy a first class attraction such as Pirates of the Carribean. Please respect the rules and people around you!

Can I just add that I just bought another DLRP DVD this one features the Fantillusion parade and although it's very well filmed as I watched I realised that all the flashing bright lights were camera flashes and that there is literally at least one going off from either side of the parade route at all times.

So now I want to watch Fantillusion with no camera flashes and I think it will be even more beautiful.

Can I just say I tried photographing the parade in 2004 and they came out rubbish, so for my part I've never tried filming or photographing it since, as the results don't do the parade justice.

Pass the Grumpy hat hildasmuriel, because I agree with you totally. :lmao:

I agree its well annoying when all you see is flashes of other peoples cameras.

I totally agree, when we were on potc the person next to me leant across both me and my daughter so she could take photos totally blocking our view. :confused3 . I told her not only that we could'nt see but cameras wern't allowed. She did move back but grudgingly. We did get the last laugh as she tripped over the camera strap as she got off.:rotfl2:

:rotfl2: - serves her right

I agree as well - someone pointed a flash at me and it is blinding in the dark :sad2:

Totally agree. I must admit that if I ever take pictures on a ride, which is actually highly unusual since I'm usually to in to the ride to think, no flash is used. I just brighten them up on the PC when I return.

Also, this is just on the ride right, does this include the queues?

I don't think I've ever seen warning signs on any queues to say no flash photography. So this would be fine :)

This thread made me laugh. As DD6 gave me a telling off for using the camera on IASW. I had to tell her it was okay since I was using the video camera and had no flash. But of course our little dialogue was recorded :)

Yeah, I got that problem with vid's taken from WDW.

I have been gulity of taking videos in these rides, is that just as bad. The POC one didnt turn out but phantom manor was fab in night vision.

I was feeling guilty for doing such a grumpy post - so it's nice to know that people tend to agree.

I also have taken photos in queuing areas, so I hope others don't mind that.
My daughter has just reminded me of someone who took photos on Peter Pan and spoilt the whole effect of the ultra violet scenes.:rolleyes2

Taking flash pictures can be annoying to guests who are trying to see and enjoy an attraction the way it was ment to be experienced. It can also take away the magic of a special effect!

I remember as a child having a "VeiwMaster" with Disneyland and WDW stereo picture disks which featured many wonderful interior scenes from The Haunted Mansion, POTC and It's a Small World. The dark ride pictures were so rich in detail and color and many of the picture details were not noticeable in the actul scenes.

I think DLP could do a good business in the souvenir department by selling a collection of 12 to 14 regular-size photo reprints of some of the more popular dark ride interior shots. Have a collection each of Phantom Manor, POTC and It's A Samall World. Each photo would be professionally staged and produced to capture the rich detail one could not get with the naked eye or their cameras. Then place the collection of photos in a small photo album or book that would be themed to the nature of the pictures. I know I would be interested in buying one rather than trying to take pictures that are going to come out poor and dark! Even if this was offered, there would still be those who insist on annoying others with their flash !

Pokey
