Party Ticket without Standard Ticket?

If I were to buy a ticket to a hard-ticket event like Night of Joy or MNSSHP, do I still need to have a valid park entry? Or is the hard ticket good enough to get us in late?

We're only doing a five-day hopper for our upcoming trip, and the day we get in will be late enough that we were going to skip the parks that day. But if a party ticket would get us into the Magic Kingdom, we might do that in the evening. We just don't want to burn a day on our ticket on a late-arrival day.

Hard-ticket is all you need to enter after 4:00p.
