How strict are they with the number of people? If I have three, though book for two, will I be turned away?

They are really strict, my DH and I usually are sent to a table that only holds 2, there could be no room for the other person. You most likely would be turned away, they legally can have only so many patrons at once.

most likely. parties of 2 are usually sat at "deuces". (in restauarnt lingo, these are small tables with only 2 seats.)
and there is NO "pulling up an extra chair". no room,

at Le cellier, hubby and I are usually sat at one of the long row of deuces in the middle. very close together. (the "grandma" in me almost offered to reach over and cut
someone's meat, once!:lmao:) same with Nine Dragons.

now, in reverse, I have heard conflicting reports (booking for 3, but only having 2). never tried it,. afraid to risk losing the ADR altogether.

I doubt you would have trouble anywhere showing up with fewer than your ADR number. We went last year scheduled for 4 at all of our meals. At the last minute my son and husband stayed home so he could make his soccer tournament and joined us mid-week. So for the first half of the week, it was my daughter and I (a party of 2) showing up for ADR's for 4. No one ever batted an eye. We didn't do Le Cellier, which is the only place I have ever heard of hesitating.

which is the exact restaurant I considered trying this. but didn't. I was afraid we would be turned away, and end of with no where to eat that day. (also, I thought it would be unfair. there's a difference between your case, where you originally WERE going to be 4 people, and mine, where I would KNOW it was just 2, but reserved for 3, just to get the table. seems unfair to the party of 4 who can't get the table)
although we HAVE been seated at LeCellier at a 4-top with just the 2 of us, anyway.

I still don't think you'd have trouble, but can understanding not wanting to take a chance.

yeah, it seems like everytime anyone posts thier experience of having "no trouble" showing up with LESS. than the adr, they always seem to add, "except at Le Cellier, heard of people being turned down at that one"

but I never see a post from anyone who ACTUALLY experienced this.. AT Le Cellier, one way or the other.

like I stated, in your case, it is totally understandable. (esp. since I used to be a soccer mom!:scared1:) seems like soccer takes up your whole life, doesn't it? (fall season, spring season, indoor soccer, tournaments, clinics... etc etc... etc... tee hee)

once we had to go STRAIGHT from disney to a soccer tournament. Coach wasn't too happy, as DS was the goalie. (he'll be too tired! can't you change the trip?) took first place, with the FEWEST goals against!!!! yay!

Well, when we booked the trip, and made the ADR's, he hadn't played soccer since 3rd grade. When he started High School and decided to go out for the soccer team, including his willingness to attend practice at 5:30 AM, we were all shocked! :goodvibes It was a fun season though, and it was fun to get to "play" at Disney with him after their belated arrival.

Given no other choices, I'd book an ADR for a larger party size and say someone in your party was in the room sick. I'd never show up with more than the ADR though. I think that's iffy on a GOOD day.

We're finally going to try LeCellier in December. I got lucky. I hadn't booked it at first. Then sometime in August a bunch of openings showed up out of the blue and I got a head's up here on the DIS.

Good luck to you!

We went to Disney and had LeCellier for one of our first night reservations. My sister had a kidney infection back in Chicago and was unable to fly down with us until later on in our trip.

We had NO issue being seated at LeCellier at all. They didn't even blink to be honest with you.

I wouldn't worry about reserving for one more at LeCellier, as you pointed out, it's not like you're taking a table or a seating away from someone else.

I would hesitate to up one person at LeCellier, but I'd never worry about showing up with less.
