Party Prizes that aren't junk

Or McDonalds gift certificates. I know McDonalds is not healthy, but the kids can get a cone or something. I never thought much of them, but my cousin gave them to all the young kids one year for christmas and they all went crazy.

try oriental trading company for items that are very nice and very cheap.

I was going to say, take a team photo and give them a frame that has a note "picture will follow" and wrap it with a bow and piece of candy but they probably have taken a team photo already...

I like the idea of a gift cert for ice cream too. When my son was that age, I gave tubs of chalk like someone suggested too.

Scented hockey pucks or some wild colored hockey tape. (With three hockey players in our house we never have enough)

DS had a Star Wars themed party. I went on ebay and bought 24 Star Wars books as a lot for about $24 including shipping. I also bought chocolate lollipop molds and made Star Wars chocolate lollipops. There were about 18 kids at the party, so DS got 4 books, and we still had a couple left over to give away as presents!

You may be able to find hockey-themed items similar to these...

ETA: I found a hockey player chocolate mold on ebay:

Sport water bottles. You can even get a marker and personalize them. Kids love these, and they are useful!

Yesterday DS6 asked my DH to buy him a pack of baseball cards. He had never expressed any interest in them before, but I think a few of the boys in his class have them. So if there is such a thing as hockey cards, that might be a good, inexpensive gift!

When my kids were little, I really resisted junk food and candy, but as they got older, I got to appreciate this statement by ckay87, and wish I had figured it out sooner, after years of collecting clutter in my house from parties and stocking stuffers: :thumbsup2
Excellent point! I also have resisted giving much candy (maybe one piece), but we also have quite a bit of 'party clutter'...

We just did baseball cards for my 8 y/o nephew's party. The boys loved them and spent most of the party reading and trading them.

hockey trading cards, wood model kits (micheals has some for $1), dollar store frisbees and sponge footballs.

I like the idea of sport bottles too.

I'm going to try to think of some of the better things my kids have brought home:

Box of animal cookies
puzzles
Golden Books (depending on their age)
sidewalk chalk

I'm blank right now.

Hmm, well for my sisters pool party we gave out beach balls and other pool toys. I'm not sure if you will be swimming, but beach stuff is always kind of cheap, and a lot of fun.
