Party of 9

Question for some of the experts....how do you go about making reservations for a party of 9? It will be my family (4) and my sister's family (5); 4 adults and 5 kids aged 8-14. We are planning to eat at 'Ohanas, Cape May, Le Cellier and possibly Crystal Palace.

I've seen some posters have trouble with making reservations due to odd-sized parties. We are willing to break up into groups of 5 and 4 if necessary. So do I need to tell the CM this when I make the reservation? Or once we're at the restaurant? I only hope that the tables would be seated reasonably close together time-wise, if not proximity-wise.

Due to the large size of our party, I was considering making reservations at non-peak dining hours, like 5:00 or 5:30 @ 'Ohanas. I'd like to try and avoid 45-60 minute wait times. Thanks in advance for any suggestions or recommendations.

We just returned last week as a party of 11 and didn't have any problem making ADR's or being seated. The only places where we were not all seated together was at Coral Reef (we were seated side by side, table for 6 and booth for 5) and Sci Fi where we had two cars side by side. Everyplace else, even though the ADR CM said we might not be seated together, we were seated together at one large table. This did include Cape May and Crystal Palace.

Thanks for asking this question. Our next trip there will be 9 of us and was hoping we wouldn't have major problems all sitting together or at least close to each other.

we were a group of 9 last May.....we were able to sit together at Chef Mickeys Mothers Day Brunch, Biergarten, Hollywood and Vine...and Crystal Palace....Chef mickeys was a little tight fit ....as they put us in a table that really should of been for 8 only.......we managed to survive and because it was Mothers Day we were okey with it....
If you cant get a group for 9 sitting.....I too agree, to ask for a 4 and a 5 and see if that works out.

Do I tell them when I make the reservation that we could possibly split into groups of 5 and 4? Or just tell them when we arrive at the restaurant to check in?

Tell them when you get there. Try to arrive 15 to 20 min before your ress. I think it will make it a little easier to accomadate you if they can.

we went with a group of 9. When I made the ADRs I would always explain that we understood we might have to be split up. At every restaurant we were seated all together at one big table. Only at Sci Fi did we have to be split up, and even there they put us in a cars right next to each other.

We had a single table for 12 at 'Ohana a few years back. It can be done!

We were just there as a group of 8-11.... a lot of making the ressie depends on who you get on the phone. We wanted to eat @ Tutto Italia, and it was the first ressie we were setting up... called and were told by the CM they couldn't seat larger than 6 people because of the floor plan. We got off the phone, called back, and had no problem making a ressie that was for 6 and 5 side-by-side.

Also - different restaurants have different seating capabilities. You may find some (like Tutto) have naturally smaller tables, and can't mash them all together because of floor flow... while in other places, it's no issue. The CM you get on the phone should be able to help you thru the process - especially if you tell them you are willing to split up, you should be fine.

Also fyi - we had no trouble finding tables enough at CS so that all of us could sit together.
