I'll be making our reservations on Thursday 4/25, for our October trip. We 'll be a party of 9 for most of the trip. I'm worried I won't have any luck with some of the harder to get reservations (CRT, Crystal palace, chef Mickey ) because of the large number. Anyone successfully book hard to get restaurants with a big party?

I have a party of 8 and didn't have any trouble getting all of the reservations I wanted at the times I wanted.

I got CRT, BOG dinner, Akershus at 8:00 (when I thought we would need it for A&E), Chef Mickey's, O'hana, and Crystal Palace before park opening.

There is hope for you too!

I got 12 for BOG this morning. I also got my group of 12 into Akershus breakfast and Garden Grill. We had to split up into two tables for Yak and Yeti and Yachtsman Steakhouse.

We are also a party of 9 and we have gotten every reservation we wanted, including BOG and O'hana.

We will be doing the same thing here soon and I was worried about as well. Now is it better to call in with a party this large or still do them online?

For me it didn't matter. I don't know if it would matter as long as your party size is below the amount that it says to call for under the reservation section (which varies per restaurant). I booked some online and then I had to call for some, because not all of my dates for the 180+10 were showing online (they were able to book them on the phone with no issues, though). I would try to book online first, simply because it gives you the extra hour to try to make reservations before the phone lines open, though if the phone is easier for you, you shouldn't have a problem with that either.

You'll be fine if you call. The only venues you will have an issue with are T-REX and Rainforest Cafe at DTD. They typically cannot handle a party that large. In that case, you can call the location directly and see what they can do for you.

I've booked for parties as large as 24. (Today in fact!) As long as it is far enough in advance, you should be fine.:thumbsup2

I called TRex directly yesterday and they easily booked my party of 9. But yes, MDE won't let you book a party that size.

my date is tomorrow for dining for 7. yikes. fingers crossed!!!! the availability for the day before we arrive is slim to none for what we want, so hoping that the days we ARE there are better.

Depending on the reservations you want, you may have to look farther into your trip in order to get them. I know that when I tried to make ressies, there was no availability until 180+6 for BOG for my stay...we were looking further out than that anyway, so it wasn't a problem. Just be prepared depending on your choices that you may not be able to get them at your preferable time/date. That, of course, has nothing to do with your party size, just the popularity of the restaurants.

Made my reservations and got almost everything I wanted! Cinderella's Royal Table, crystal Palace (before park opening), chef Mickey, ohana, Fantasmic package, even Be Our Guest! ONLY thing I couldn't get was King Akershus before park opening - earliest was 9:20.
But I'm not going to complain. Big parties need not worry!
