I have a friend (yes i do have the odd one or two :thumbsup2 ) :rotfl2:

Anyway she was talking about going to WDW next year, and was asking advice.

She has 3 kids, 11,13,14 years.

Which is the best accomodation, where they can stay in 1 room if at all possible.

There are a few choices but a lot of the places that sleep five, the fivth bed is a day bed which is really suitable for children aged 9 and under. A two bedroom Villa at Disney`s Beach Club Resort or Disney`s Yacht Club, Disney`s Fort Wilderness Resort or the new Family Suites in All Stars, they are ment be be very spacious and brand new!

Are they all one sex?
If not, that can effect how they want to be housed.
It would be better to get two rooms at a hotel outside WDW for the same price as one in WDW

2 boys and 1 girl.

Where to do find the info and prices on the family suites at the all stars?

Nothing is mentioned on the disney site

If they are on a budget then www.bestwesternlakeside.com will cater for families of 5 in a standard room. If they consider this option let me know I will send you a link to book it at approx £24/night not £50ish if you book on their site. There may be a charge for extra bed but children are supposed to be free so would have to be looked into.

The De Luxe resorts sleep 5 as do the Moderates, though they'd be a little tight - 5 sharing a bathroom doesn't sound like much fun.

I second one of the DVC resorts, either by renting points or paying direct.

Hi there

First of all I sympathise, it is hell trying to book with 3 kids. We have booked the Port Orleans Riverside for July 07, we have 3 kids, 10, 8 and 3 (when they travel) and POR was the only one we could afford, but I think I have read somewhere that although they cater for 3 kids, the youngest is no older than 9??? not sure if this is correct.

The only other place would be a cabin, but the prices start to really rocket I thought. I'm also pretty sure that the deluxe resorts wont solve the problem either, just because they are a lot more doesnt mean they will take 5.

Our POR for July 07 next year 2 ads, 3 kids with Virgin has cost us 4069.00 (3 weeks) the same holiday in a cabin, best price was 5600.00.

Best of luck trying to find somewhere, I know how difficult it is, and will only get harder!

Cheers

Steve

With a party of 5 a private villa would be the choice I would go for and could work out slightly cheaper perhaps , although I appreciate they want to stay on-site.

A 2 bedroomed villa at a DVC resort would be my only other thought as I am not really familiar with most of the Disney hotels.

I think she would need to decide on how much she wants to spend to stay on-site,as much as we would love to stay on-site space has always been an issue,2-3 weeks of bumping into each other is not fun! She could try a "trio" at Staybridge suites at LBV,they sleep 8 & have a fully fitted kitchen & dishwasher. They are also only about 15-20 mins walk (5 in a car) from the Marketplace & a good selection of eateries in the LBV area.
SD :thumbsup2

We have 4 children and LOVED the Fort Wilderness Cabins, although I am not fond of camping. The cabin has a room for the children, with one double bed and a set of bunk beds. There is a fold-down Murphy bed in the main room. It also has a full kitchen. There is housekeeping each day and it has a fun, relaxing atmosphere.

I have to say, the only downside is the pool. It's nothing special.

Hope that helps.

The De Luxe resorts do sleep 5 - at least the Poly and GF definitely do. We were a family of 5 and always sprung for 2 rooms simply because we wanted the extra bathroom.

Port Orleans Riverside all the way, it doesn't feel like a cheap option, has two lovely pools, and the food court is good too and boats to Downtown Disney. We are booked at Christmas and although they advise the trundle bed is really only suitable for someone up to 5ft2" or age 9ish, but we will take a lilo too as the trundle bed does have a thin matress.

Hi Gill

Sorry to get off the subject here, but if you dont mind me asking what sort of cost is involved in 2 rooms. I would assume at even the value Disney resort hotels it would be a real sting for 2 weeks.

Just being nosey

Not all of the deluxe resorts sleep five. Obviously it depends on the room type, but those resorts which do not offer standard rooms sleeping five include the Animal Kingdom Lodge and Wilderness Lodge.

In most cases, it definitely works out cheaper having two rooms at a value over one room at a deluxe.

I know this was directed at Gill, but going by rack rates two rooms in a value resort would set you back around $160/night in value season, making a total of around £1300 (+ tax) for 2 rooms for 2 weeks.

The five of us have stayed in Port Orlean riverside with no problem
last time the boys were 7, 14,and 18

as this is her first time going how long are they going to spend in the room

A villa

The thought of sharing a room with my 3 teenagers for 2 weeks fills me with dread!
