Party of 4 seated at different tables??

I just made my ADR's as today is my 180 day window (WOOOOHOOOOO!!!!!!!) and at two restaurants, Kona and Crystal Palace, it said that we may be split up and seated at different tables.

I would really rather all sit together, it's not like we're a party of 8 or even 6. Can someone just explain this to me? What are the chances of us really being split up? Can we wait for a table to sit together instead of being seated at our ADR time?

TIA! Heidi.

We were given the same explanation for 'Ohana for our trip this past May. I explained to the CM we had DS5 and DD18months and splitting us up wouldn't work. The issue never came when we arrived for our reservation but I believe you could request to wait until a table opens. I think it's a disclaimer they have to read b/c some restaurants do have tables set up just for 2.

Don't worry about it, it's a common disclaimer they put at many different restaurants for parties of all sizes. I've even received it as a party of 1 (talk about messy!)

For a party of 4, again, it's nothing to worry about. They aren't going to actually split you up, especially considering the ages of your children. I could see if it was 7+, but 4 is doubtful.

Sounds rather odd to me and I was in food service for nearly 15 years. (Went from a waiter to a manager to having my own event planning business & working with some of the best caterers in the Dallas area.) Anyway, most restaurants are set up with tables to accomodate 4 people, Some have a few larger tables for bigger parties, and some have a few 2-tops (tables only able to accomodate 2 guests.) I find it hard to imagine that your party of 4 would be split up. Now, if your reservations are for mid to later evening, say 7:00 and beyond, there may be a chance that the 4-tops will be taken and they may need to put your party @ 2 separate 2-tops. Maybe that's what they were getting at when they told you that. Depends on what time your resevations are for. As for waiting for a table to open up so your entire party can sit together, that's not usually a problem in my experience. However, it also depends on restaurant policy and the mood of the host or hostess, since it's really up to them to make that accomodation for you...Hope this helps

Messy indeed! LOL!!

Thanks! I'm sure it won't be an issue, I would rather wait an extra 15 minutes to be seated together. Glad to hear that your groups were kept together.

A family friend of ours was told that about her family of 6 - I told her she should told them as long as they put the 4 kids together (ages: 9,7 and 2 yr old twins) at one table and her and the hubby at the other table - that would work just fine!!:rotfl2:

It may also have to do with the table types. I know at Kona and Crystal Palace (and a couple other restaurants) they have some banquette seating with tables lined up along the bench portion.

This may be the reason. You'd still be sitting "together" just at separate tables.

Does that make sense?

That's the only explanation I can see because I see that disclaimer mostly on restaurants that have that type of seating in some areas.

I got this message for ADRs at several places on a trip I took last year with 7 people. When we actually got to WDW, we were never actually split up so I wouldn't worry too much.

I actually just got this message when booking a dinner reservation at the Turf Club for 3 people in October. The last time I ate at Turf Club, we were one of only three or four other parties eating there and that was in the busy summer season so I am thinking they throw the "you might be separated" message around way more than it ever actually happens.

I called about something similar this morning. I made a reservation for Boma online for a party of 5 at 8:30 am. That same disclaimer came up so i called. The CM i spoke with said that at 8:30 it didn't show any table that would accomodate 5 but we could asked to be seated together and it could possibly work out ok. However at 8:45 am they did have availb for 5 so I just changed the reservation...

Hope this helps.

Just a cover themselves type of thing. I have never in all of my visits to WDW seen a party of 4 split up.

this has happened to us with a group of 4 at the garden view tea and Kona, both times it was the two small tables with the bench seating.
