Party Gift Advice

My DS (15) is invited to a graduation celebration pool party today at a fellow middle school graduates house. They really don't know each other other than knowing who they are. Never in each other's class, never hung out or even spoke. The parents (who are wealthy....live in rap artist Eminem's neighborhood) are hosting a party for the entire graduating class of this private school (90 students). Sounds like it will be a lot of fun. There will be food, music, photo booths, popcorn machine, hot dog cart, ice cream cart, etc...all free for the students.

My question is ~ do we send a gift?? If so, what??

Any advice would truly be appreciated. The party is this afternoon!

Since it sounds like it's not a graduation party for their son but one they have thrown for all the grads, I would not buy the son a gift.

I would buy a host/hostess gift for the parents (bottle of wine, a nice plant, etc). But I just have a hard time showing up at anyone's house empty handed.

It sounds like a great time and what a nice thing to do for the kids.

I agree. I would send a hostess gift of some sort, but not bring a gift for the graduate.

Any other ideas on a hostess gift? They don't drink alcohol so wine won't do.....but it was a great idea!

You could also make a donation to a charity in the familys name.

You could send a little something as a thank you - after the party. Cheryl and Company has nice inexpensive cookie gifts that are fun and yummy! With 90 kids a gift now could be hectic and misplaced.

Sounds like a great party hope they have a blast!

Everyone's ideas were perfect, but I may go with JessicaR's suggestion! You're right....with all that going on today, the gift could get lost in the shuffle! (Not sure what gift yet, but I like the idea of making a donation under the families name too ~ easy to mail also!)
