Part Time Work Scheduals

So are there any people who have a part time job?? Are the hours they give you completely crazy?

Here is a sample of a work week here

M: 8 am to 3 pm
T: 7 pm to 12 am
W: 10 am to 4pm
T: off
F: off
S: 4 pm to 1:30 am
S: 11 am to 8 pm


Is this normal or is it weird? People I know will work like weirder hours then that there as well... it is just a question people...

I work at Wal-Mart and my hours are totally out of wack. In fact, they decided to cut everyone's hours for the whole month of January. So, now every cashier only get's 20 hours a week - can you believe that?

Tomorrow I work from 5:30 to 10:00. I am totally upset about them cutting the hours, especially because I rely on this job for my rent and electric. I am not able to go get another job because I am also a full time student. Because this is my final semester, I will be in Internship II where I must work as a full time teacher during the day.

So, things are crazy here too.

I work full-time, but most of the part-timers here work PRN. Nice for them, they get to basically set their own schedule, depending on what shifts are open!

I think it all depends on what industry you work in!

I need to be looking for a 2nd job myself, going broke putting the hubby through school! Ugh!

oh I am sorry about that.. 20 hours a week? wow.. . yah I have been getting 15 or so... which is okay for me... I hope that things work out for me.. but it is good to know that scheduals are messed up lol. .

It upsets me because Wal-Mart is only cutting our hours for the month of January to look good on their charts so I have been told. I was also told that starting next month we will be back to our normal hours. You know, I work at Wal-Mart, I choose to shop at Target. Wal-Mart is eventually going to make me want to look elsewhere for a job, as well.

I have always heard good things about how wal-mart treats employees so well. . but I am thinking other wise...

have you tried a costco or sams club?? if you still wanted to be doing simular to what you are doing? I have not a clue haha

Wal-Mart overworks their cashiers. It is unreal how they try there best to 'forget' who needs a break. They constantly 'forget' about giving people there breaks and lunches and they do this on purpose.

I am going to just ride it out because I will be graduating in May with a degree in Education. Then, I will be outta there.

I am retired but work part time. I have told Disney I am only available on Wednesdays and Thursdays, so those are the only days they schedule me for work. Some weeks they will only schedule me for one day. My normal shift is only six hours, but some days they will schedule me for eight. And it is extremely rare for my start time to be more than an hour before the park opens, or my shift end be more than an hour after official park closing.

I think your hours are pretty much the norm for those who work retail. DS works at Starbucks and last week he worked from 4-11 one night and then had to be in at 4AM the next day. His hours however, have been increased because most of the other people who work in his location are students (he is too) and they all went home for semester break. So his part time job (no more than 25 hours) is now at a minimum 50. He was complaining the other day about all the hours he has to work and how he is not getting an opportunity to enjoy his "vacation." Sympathetic mother that I am, I told him to suck it up and just think of all the overtime he's making.

lol that is what my mom has told me too. i work in a chain like starbucks so I guess it is typical but I was just wondering haha
