I have just been thinking, when speaking to many friends that have visited Disney they just have no clue about the possible deals, options, places to go, best times etc. It seems like there would be an opportunity to make some cash on the side offering Disney TRip Planning advice - which is basically just info and experience I have gathered over the years. What do you think? Has anyone considered this? Just thinking out loud here......:confused3 :surfweb:

Hey I understand completely! I came back in 2005 and said this is what I want to do - have even taken a couple travel courses to obtain a diploma in travel to help me along - but I'm lost on how to get this going!! I too talk to tons of people who know so very little and have helped many with their holidays. Alot of people (non disney fanatics)!! just dont have the time to devote to this like us. I think there is a Canadian market for this and I also think its really needed just need to find a way to make it work!!

Why don't you try talking to some of the online TA that specialize in Disney, such as DU. I'm sure they would love a Canadian Rep in their company.

Just a thought!

I've often been told by many I have helped, that I should do just what you are thinking. I think there is a definate need, but I don't think anyone could make a full living off of it.

If I could charge a dollar for every piece of advice I have given to people over the years I would be staying at the grand floridian year round! LOL. I always get emails/phone calls, not to mention my best friend who asks EVERYTHING about her trip she is planning to disneyland. I am not sure if anyone would pay us for our advice - they could go find this site on the internet. And if you did find someone to pay you - I dont think it would be enough to make any kind of living, even a parttime living, off of. I wish it would work though.

Very interesting thread and I have kind of looked into this in the past. My wife is the Disney fanatic inthe family and I am the travel fanatic.

She is looking for a career change (from Daycare) and considered travel. I am a business professional (sales executive).

Put it all together and away we go! However, I think there would need to be more then just my wife alone. I think the Canadian market could use a disney specific travel co., and would probably sustain 2-4 travel consultants to begin. I know the Canadian forum could probably use a sponsor too!

What do you all think?

DU would never allow that! They sponsor these boards as a whole and censor those who already mention other agencies, so heaven forbid you start and (gasp) promote yourselves here. You're bound to be banned!

Really??? Wow!!! I have plugged Small World Vacations a few times and never heard boo! They were great to deal with.

I'm not aware of any censoring -- ... ? And I've worked the Resorts Board and now the Theme Parks board.

DutchsMommy, there is a Disney specialist in Bolton called Fairytale Destinations. They have a really good reputation within Disboard. Since I see that you are in Toronto. How about giving them a call?

I am currently attending Seneca College to obtain my Travel and Tourism diploma.

I have an agent who wants to hire me as his Disney Specialist so it is possible to find such a position.

The Ontario travel industry is changing as of July 2008. There will be a travel industy exam that every person selling travel to an Ontario resident will have to have passed.
