PART THREE! *December 2012 Roll Call* Holidays, FLE & MVMCP!! A very, merry thread!

Ooh I haven't been on the thread in a few days - this has been confirmed?!?!

Seems to be ... see this post by our fellow roll-caller:

Well, I did just get a call from a Disney rep. We had a nice talk, and she as very sweet. But she really didn't have anything to offer.

She says they have heard from a large number of people about Belle's availability at meet & greets. She did assure me that anyone who wants to participate in ETWB can and that I can take my own photos along with Photopass.

She did confirm that Belle will not be appearing in her red dress at MVMCP. She said they are planning to have her wear it more at Epcot throughout the holiday season. No real date on when this would happen, so perhaps not even during our trip. And we're not eating at Akershus for the first time ever, so that's not an option. She hinted that maybe she would wear the red dress out in the park, but nothing specific on when.

She described the new things they have in store for MVMCP but honestly, there was nothing notable she divulged. She mentioned a pre-parade similar to what they did with MNSSHP, and a new dance party at Cosmic Ray's. And she mentioned the Tremaine family. But that one's not new for this year anyway.

She did offer to refund my MVMCP tickets if I wanted, but since we're going with friends, I'm not prepared to do that. And we still do enjoy the party. I've been one of the biggest supporters of MVMCP here on the DIS, constantly sticking up for it when everyone else says it's just a shell of what it used to be.

So while I enjoyed chatting with her, and it was very nice of her to call, she didn't really have anything new to offer.

Tltorrez: You have a Silhouette?!? Can I pick your brain? I've been thinking about getting one. I love borrowing my MIL's Cricut, but the other DIL borrows it too and there's a whole issue/story there, so I'd rather avoid that. Also, I'm a graphic designer and while I love all the cute graphics that you can get for the Cricut, not having the freedom to do what I want really irks me, as does the $50 per cartridge and endless cutting mat costs. So how do you like the Silhouette? Any issues I should be aware of? Do you use it on a mac or pc? How often to you have to replace the blade? How often does it eat paper? TIA!!! And FYI Target had some really cute glitter cardstock, 2 pieces for $1.

So if I told DH that I wouldn't buy any more shirts before our trip and my cart currently has a watch, earrings and 2 plushes, that's okay right? It even equals $75.34 so I get free shipping.

A watch, earrings and plushes are NOT shirts, ergo you would NOT be breaking your word to Mr. Valgoof ;)

Girls have always been mean. I was terriblely bullied and picked on through middle and high school. I had a strong sense of self, thankfully, but it was awful. being fat, poor and shy was a terrible combination. It wasnt until college that I found my own. as the mom of 2 girls, we started before birth building confidence, and pointing out social injustices. My girls are well adjusted, and they stand up for each other, and others. My 11 year old is way wiser than I was. She has a great attitude about others, kind, compassionate and giving. And if someone doesnt like her, tough cookies - her response is "mom, they dont know what they are missing out on" I love it. She knows who she is, and that Jesus loves her and she can rise above. I wish I had had that confidence when I was her age. She was telling me about befriending a girl at school b/c she looked lonely, and told me that people "have no idea what other kids go through" and should "think before they are mean". I hope it holds through JHS and HS!

We had our first "frenemy" last year, I saw it coming. This girl was all nice when she wanted something then would turn on a dime and be mean, snarky and just down right nasty. I didnt say anything, but after the 2nd time the girl turned on her, it was time to invite for a sleep over for my DD's birthday - and she said mom, I dont want to invite so and so. She's not the kind of friend I need. I'm still nice to her, but she has treated me and another good friend pretty badly, I'm not ok with that. She weathered that first BFF type break up pretty good I thought.

That is wonderful. The lessons learned on their own are the best. As much as we want to stand up for our kids the best thing is to teach them to stand up for themselves. Mean kids prey on kids who don't have the confidence to Stand up for themselves. Your daughter sounds like she has a great head on her shoulders! I taught my kids that they we no better than anyone else and that they should never judge someone unless you walked in their shoes. We're all God's children. That was the part they understood.

So I'm going to AK on Sunday, Dec. 16. I looked it up and on that day the sun sets at 5:31 pm in Orlando (LOL. I'm not obsessed or anything). What's open after dark? Is it worth staying? I know the train & its stations will be closed, anything else? The park is open until 7 pm. Thanks!

I have rearranged that bag a zillion times today and keep coming back to those items. The $75 also includes the art case for my niece for Christmas that I debated about last week. I say I want a Mickey watch all the time, the art case is a present and the 2 plushes are holiday M&M for our trip. The only item I don't love are the earrings. But they are basically free since I would get free shipping. Or I could get the fleece throw. Do I really need a blanket? Would I use a blanket? I think I would wear the earrings more than I would use the blanket. Ok, off to checkout.

I should schedule a down day? :lmao: I have Saturday and Sunday unplanned except for ADRs. We may go drinking around the world on Saturday with a local friend.

Down day? What is this you speak of?

I have heard EE is really fun after dark. Not sure if they will do an extra showing of Nemo or FOTLK or not. I dont think the safari and trails have lights so that wouldn't be good. It's Tough to Be a Bug and Dinosaur are both indoors. The Tree of Life might have some lights on that would make it neat to see. Primeval Whirl and Triceratops Spin should still be running. I am just excited to see it after dark since the other parks have such a different feel after dark.

We're staying ONE night at Royal Pacific. I also joined AAA strictly for Universal side of things. Most of the restaurants on that side give the 10% too and the shops also. We fly in on Dec 8th and are supposed to land at MCO at 10 am. I'm hoping to be in Universal by noon! Hoping our room will be ready too! We have ressies at Mythos at 2:15 and we will be hungry by then as we fly out of STL at 6:40 am!

So u get 2 days of early admission for that one day, right?

I know!!!! I had the ADR booked and then did the dessert party and looked at my schedule and went :scared1: Neither one of us care about the food at all. I really just want to ride the boat over and see the huge Christmas tree. I was reading a TR last night and the woman didn't let her husband eat dinner at all because she was surprising him with the dessert party. DH won't go for that. He will need some kind of real food, but the all you can eat skillet MIGHT be a bit too much. :lmao:

We're doing BOG at 4:45 before our 7pm Dessert Party :o. I think we're splitting at table service though and I plan on just getting the salad with champagne vinegarette.

So I found some pretty cheap flights to Tampa instead of MCO as I'm trying to fit in as many people (party of 6) into our rewards points from signing onto the Southwest Airlines 50k per card promotion (2 cards). It's about double the distance than MCO I figured might be same time travel since we were gonna do DME anyways. I'm kinda disappointed though, I was looking forward to riding the DME to our resort. Anyways I just wanted to let out my frustration because rental cars are soooooo expensive this year! =( sigh.... Has anyone done taxis during a busy time of the year at Universal?

I thought of you when I was typing that with your Le Cellier and BOG issue. I didnt know you had the dessert party that same night!! You are wearing the stretchy pants that day, right? :goodvibes

Not tltorrez but had to chime in because I'm in love with my Silhouette. I had a cricut and about a dozen carts and it sat mostly untouched for 2 years. I've had my silhouette for a year now and I use it nearly everytime I scrapbook. It's just so easy. My blade is just starting to dull after a year of frequent use (though I've never tried anything thicker or more complicated than cardstock). I use a PC. If you're decent on a computer (which I'm sure you are as a graphic designer) you'll have no problem using it. There are several online classes out there, as well, that will give you tips on how to use the machine and the software. I'm signed up for one starting on 11/1. Hoping I learn a few more tricks. Apparently, the American Crafts glitter paper works really well, but I haven't tried it yet :scratchin

We'll be at AK the same day! I want to try to ride EE in the dark before we have to bolt to EP for a R&C dinner. I also have seen a lot of really cool night shots of the environment in AK. Great ambient lighting there.
