I think expensive luggage makes makes a person into a target, as well.

I have an ancient little Eddie Bauer rolling bag that hardly has a scratch on it after 15 years. But last year, we bought two expensive Red Oxx bags and the first day we used them, my husband had his stolen (right out of the trunk of the car, in Ireland of all places). So I gave him my new bag and now I'm happily back to my old Eddie Bauer. I think old luggage wards off thievery. I would be heartbroken if someone took my suitcase, 'cause my shoes are in it!

So sorry about your luggage getting stolen - that stinks! I'd go bonkers if my suitcase got lost or stolen.

A couple years ago the baggage handlers on a Carnival Cruise busted up the expensive bag I'd bought for my first trip to England and Scotland that had literally been all over the world with me. Was NOT easy dumping that bag in the trash once we got home. Since then, all the luggage I've bought has been from TJ Maxx at one of their clearance sales.

That's how I felt last night. Woke up this morning sick. Not serious - just achy, congestion, miserable enough to stay in bed and take a sick day. Hoping later I'll feel well enough to be productive.

Hope you feel better.

Ugh I know the feeling! I've been sick all week. Same with my kiddos.... Can not wait for it to go away. We never get sick but since my daughter started pre-k she has been a germ sponge....

Good morning :)

First of all, thank you to everyone who was concerned for me and sent me well wishes...I truly appreciate it:goodvibes

I'm much better now! It's jut that when my Dh is away, I don't sleep well at all and then to top it off I'm usually up way too early. This morning I was wide awake (after a couple of hours of tossing and turning) before 5am. I did eventually decide to catch a nap between 6 and 8am, which has made me feel a lot better!!!

I hate that - my husband has some crazy work hours (like last night when he didn't get home until 4:15am) and I don't sleep at all. It sucks. Sometimes it's great we can work around each others hours (I worked yesterday early AM) but the down side is his super late hours.

We've done a couple "booked and planned in less than 2 months" trips. One was DH & I. We had a general plan same as always and a few ADRs ( Sanaa, Yachtsman, R&C, Via Napoli, HoB). DH, DD & I also did our last trip booked only a couple weeks out - during spring break even. Had ADRs at LC (lunch), CP dinner, RFC @AK. Both were fun and not planned any differently than others where we've known a year or more out about the trip :goodvibes: The main difference was not booking ADRs at 180 days

We have done the same thing. Last year at the end of my maternity leave we booked a trip 5 weeks out. In that trip we managed to score a 3 bedroom grandvilla at OKW (and not a cash booking but DVC) ADR's at 'Ohana, Chef Mickey.... And all of our dinner ADR's were at places we chose around the times we want...

:lmao: I'm going to have to stop reading this roll call at work if this keeps up. At this rate my co-workers are going to think I've gone nuts I've been laughing so hard!!!

Hahaha I know what you mean!! Sometimes I get these sideways glances if I am checking the thread and someone else is here and I chuckle or laugh.

Ugh, hate being sick, now I'm so behind on our thread.:crazy2:

Anyway, quick question. Since losing 20lbs my wonderful DH decided he wanted me to get some leggings. So, I got a pair, they actually look pretty good! Got a cute Disney top to go with, now, shoes....

Besides the normal tennis shoes a lot of people wear, which don't look right with leggings, what other kinds of shoes do ladies wear in the parks? I never pay attention to that kind of thing. I had picked out a pair of the Crocs loafer type canvas shoes but they are too big & don't come any smaller. Any advice?

I am trying to find a cute pair of maryjane style shoes. I love keens and they have some really cute styles.

Taaren - No mickey mail from DVC  I booked my mom's first night at All Star Music and hope I get something for that (set everything up on my CC and address etc, also added my name to it so I could check her in and get room keys all set up)

BDL - The snake thing HILARIOUS!!!

We went last year and wore short sleeves all week. It hit 80 most days. In 2010, people were bundled up in coats, hats and gloves.

Chicagoan here! You probably will not be cold. I wore tank tops with cardigans and either skirts with leggings/tights or jeans. I only wore my hoodie a night or two. No coats!

Ok, I'm thinking of checking out Sears/Kmart, Target and JCPenny for luggage. I've already checked Kohls but they're kinda pricey and Walmart whose selection is very limited. Can anyone think of any other stores for me to look in? I don't want to order online b/c I want to see it personally rather than just a picture. I also don't want to pay an arm and a leg for it either (ex. Samonsite).

Do you have a Ross in your area? That's where I've bought ours the last two times after many a suitcase-suicide and let me tell you their prices can't be beat! The best thing is they have a ton of variety and quality. For the mid-sized Samsonite I bought, regular price at Kohl's was $125 - got it at Ross for $45. I'm telling you, it's a great place to shop if you have time to look. Other places would be HomeGoods, Marshall's and TJ Maxx :thumbsup2

In my attempt not to over plan and just enjoy being with my mom... I'm over thinking EVERYTHING. Now I'm not even sure I want to do La Nouba. Someone smack me. :crazy2:

Mon: Flight lands at 2:45. Hoping to head to MK for MSEP and Fireworks.
Tue: 9:30 Chef Mickey ADR. Head wherever. Probably MK. Have 7:15 Kona ADR, but that can be changed.
Wed: HS, Lunch at SciFi, Fantasmic and Osbourne Lights.
Thurs: Epcot. 6:15 La Celier, Illuminations
Friday: Last Day. MK? La Nouba? Gah.
Sat: DME picks us up at 9:15 a.m.

In other news... 53 days!!!!

Edit: Okay, in a complete plan reversal... we're now doing the Hoop De Doo Musical Review on our last night! I know it's based loosely on the Golden Horseshoe from Disneyland, and I must have gone to see that a bajillion times as a kid. Since this is supposed to be a massively nostalgic trip, it feels more like something I'd like to do with my mom than La Nouba! Plus, DH can't ever go because he's allergic to corn and the whole meal is loaded with it (I talked with Disney last year and their proposed alternative menu was less than stellar).

Congrats on the weight loss!

Shoes... um, ballet flats? Not sure how comfy they'd be though. Crocs makes some cute flats that look dressier.

45 Days till we're in the world...

Has anyone ever rented the pontoon boats? Can you pick up at one resort and drop at another?

Was thinking if we aarived 7a that we might go check out some of the MK resorts decorations then rent a boat for an hour or so till our ADR at Wilderness Lodge at 2p.

Then check into hotel (offsite) wuick trip to walmart for groceries.. then early bedtime so we can do Ropedrop..

Too much/too little after driving 20 hrs (we have 3 drivers so there will be some sleep in the car)

Sweet! That's what we're doing the last night of our trip too. I though it'd be a fun note to end the trip on :thumbsup2

Val, how is the quality of the luggage you ordered and which ones did you order? I went to Walmart and wasn't too happy with how thin the luggage was as as well as the lack of choices. We need to get two medium size suitcases for our trip but I don't want to pay in the $200+ range for each one.

I got mine from EBags dot com. It was around $200 for three pieces, all of which fit inside each other

Abby and I went with the 6PM showing, figuring we'd enjoy a night at DTD after the show. We're doing dinner at T-Rex after, and then will spend some time wandering around before heading back to our resort.

Plus, La Nouba has a lot of things going on at once. I think if you are tired when you go to it, you'd probably miss parts of the show that you'd pick up on if you were more awake.

We chose 6pm so we can head to a late dinner (9pm) at Narcoossee. I think the show is 90 minutes long, isn't it? It should be plenty of time to get back and catch the last Wishes :)

Exactly where I was going to suggest - we have also bought luggage from there at a fraction of the price. Gotta love Ross :thumbsup2

On a side note ... we were talking about hair the other day. So, if you look at my piccie in the 'Getting to know you RollCallers' document that Tofubeast has put together you'll see my hair but just add about another 4-5 inches, it was getting pretty long.

IT'S GONE! GONE I TELL YA! Its all over the salon floor :rotfl:

So is it back to looking like the pic? Or did you go shorter than that? And what color is it? Inquiring minds need to know.

Congrats on making a decision. :thumbsup2 I think Hoop De Doo looks like fun. It was on my plan at some point, but couldnt make it fit.

Oh no, its super super short! Short as in boy short at the back with just a little length at the sides. My hairdresser was having a scissor happy moment and she loved it.

Oh! Found a photo ... its just like this except mine is dark.

Wow! There was a lot of hair on the salon floor. I had hair that short my senior year of high school. It is usually about shoulder length these days. Every summer I think about chopping it off.
