What RMD is refering to is a skin condition called tinea virsicolor (my spelling may be off). It's pretty unusual for it to appear on extremities, it is usually confined to the trunk and neck area. If the patches are scaling, it could be excema. It could also be a condition known as vitiligo (again, spelling may be off). Ezcema and tinea are treatable; vitiligo is a permanant condition, and is generally untreatable. You're best bet is to consult a dermatologist, of course, but if you want to play armchair physician (as I'm prone to do LOL), do a search online for white patches skin thigh for more information. The treatment RMD suggests for tinea is correct, although it takes several weeks normally for a color change back to be noticed. I know about them because I have had tinea (its not contagious; basically, it happens when the yeast that naturally lives on everyone's body just goes willy-nilly in small patches) and my son and his paternal grandfather both have vitiligo. Incidentally (if anyone cares) vitiligo is the condition Michael Jackson claims changed his skin color. It's an absolute absence of pigment, giving the skin a very milky white appearance.
