Nope, doesn't have to work like that. You eat lunch or dinner before Fantasmic!, and they give you a slip to take with you to get in the entrance for Fantasmic! Dining Packages only. But each of the 3 restaurants only has a limited number of FDP to give away, so even if you can still get a ADR, that doesn't mean they have Fantasmic! packages to offer still.

Hmmm... as usual I must not have expressed my ideas well. I did not think it was just a regular ADR. I have one of those to sci-fi but not a fantasmic package. My confusion is what's the purpose of a "lunch" fantasmic package since fantasmic is no where near lunch time. That's all.

The meal doesn't have to be right before. In fact, with a 6:30 Fanasmic it's nearly impossible to get a dinner seating.

Thank you. Now I understand. So it is not a way to still get to eat dinner and see fantasmic (even though I understand you have to pay for the privilege), its really more like a paid perk if you dine for lunch or early dinner at certain restaurants you can pay to sit in a special area. That being said is it worth it?

We're flying out of Manchester, NH (Southwest)...

Ahhh...they had some great deals, too!
Funny, I met one of my best friends, another DIS member on our flight home from our 2008 trips. We met on DISboards and chatted about our trips for almost a year. She flew to MCO the day after me on the same Airtran flight# and we talked about how ironic that was but, we never discussed our return flights. It turns out she was in the row behind me...she struck up a conversation with my daughter...we started chatting and figured out who the other was and we've been friends ever since! Small world!

The package is just to get the slip to get into the special entrance for the reserved seating for those with the package, not to eat dinner before Fantasmic!. You just get priority seating and get seats without having to wait in line forever to get in with the package. It really should be called the Fantasmic! Dining Package, not Dinner Package.

Thank you. I now understand how it works. I think it is odd... I think if people want to buy reserved seating they should just be able to do that seems odd it is tied to eating since it has nothing to do with it. Just an observation... must be to pull people into DHS's mediocre TS options. Lol!!

That is probably why you have one and we don't!:rotfl: I just called today...I'm on their list if there are any cancellations. Crossing my fingers! Congratulations on your anniversary!

So, I'm confused...do I need to have a special ressie for Mama Melrose's or do they hand out slips at your meal? Our reservation is at 3:35pm...should be plenty of time to get seating for a 6:30 show. Also, I'd think it'd be early enough that any slips would be available??

You have to book the Fantasmic Package and pay the package rate in order to get the slip for reserved seating. There are a limited number of packages. And they're booked separately from a regular Mama Melrose ressie.

If you don't get the package, you should line up for Fantasmic 60-90 minutes (depending on crowd) before the show. So with a 3:35 ressie you'll have plenty of time to get a regular seat for the show. If you can get the package you'll be able to go do something else instead of standing in line.

The purpose is that you don't have to stand in line. To guarantee a seat for Fantasmic you need to line up 60-90 minutes beforehand. With the package you get a voucher for reserved seating and you can show up like half an hour before the show.

I've never used the package. But I also don't usually do Fantasmic on my DHS day because it sucks up a lot of time.

For those that have used it... fantasmic is at 6:30, if I had package at what time do I need to get there?

Ok. I just got it!! I was really confused about this. Thought it cost more, etc. Thank you to all those that taught me. Is there anyway this changed in the last 10 years???

I got Hollywood Brown Derby at 1pm for fantasmic package 12/4. Which means ill be releasing at 8pm sci-fi if anyone needs it. 7 people on 12/4 8pm

Yes, and ASAP. We use a sitter on every vacation to have at least on adults night out. We've used two different services at Disney. I have a slight preference to Kids Nite Out, but last time they were booked full. They recommend booking a month in advance. We ended up using All about Kids. They were fine too. This time I booked two months out fir our Friday night Epcot EMH just to be sure.

We always consider the Kids Clubs but I would much rather DS have the extra sleep. Our last night is another PM EmH at Epcot. If we decide to do a second night out, then we'll leave DS at AKL Kids Club. But that's assuming we're not all exhausted at that point.
Thanks, I just made my reservation for our sitter. Not sure if I'm going to keep it ... didn't realize there was a 4 hour minimum plus a transportation fee, so it might end up being more expensive than the Sandcastle Club which only has a 2 hour minimum, and I think the kids might have more fun at the Club (though also be more tired). I wish I'd realized the price because my first choice now would be to take them with us on the IllumiNations cruise, its about the same price but I already have a full pontoon of DISsers sans the kids. Oh well, lesson learned.
Okay, I found this pic from Disneyland circa 1986 and had to post it. Me and my mom. :)
This picture is gorgeous!

Don't know if anybody Pins .... I don't tweet or tumblr, but I do Pinterest, so if anybody wants to add me I haven't been posting much lately but love to follow other Disney fanatics (we have a huge group following each other from the Disneyland board). pixelshuman at gmail is probably the best way to find my boards.

I will be in Disney from Dec 2nd through 8th. Plan on going to MVMCP on December 6th. Also will be taking a behind the scenes tour of the Magic Kingdom that my wife got me as a birthday gift. Does anyone think that MVMCP will be extremely busy since it is the same day as new fantasyland opening? We are styaing offsite but also will be visiting Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, and Hollywood Studios

Welcome to the group :goodvibes

Holy Toledo! I still have to catch up on Part 3 yet and we have a Part 4 already! I don't know if I'll be able to catch up this time :scared1:

Because of Sandy, aka Frankenstorm, I've been trying to catch up on things around the house as well as running some local errands. I just stood on the gas line for 1.5 hours just to get some gas in my car. I will be so glad when everything gets back to normal.

Glad you got gas but hate that you had to wait so long. After all you guys are going through up there, you all certainly need this Disney break. Thinking of you x

OMG. I have actually had to work today!!!! This whole week is going to be like that. It's just not right. :rotfl:

How dare they? I am kinda swamped too over here. Hard to keep up with everything here, and on the news, and FB. Tonight's going to be a late night for me too (and I am sure many of you) with watching the returns. I wish we could hit fast forward.

Anyone been to Kona for dinner? Considering it for our last night. Should be noted we will be eating at 'Ohana for dinner 2 nights before.

Ha! My daughter hates it because she thinks of a lemon wearing a pair of tight underpants :rotfl:

I've used that name online for over 10yrs - I was drinking a glass of coke at the time and it had a lemon wedge on the edge of the glass :scratchin

My DIS name ..... well I couldn't think of anything I didn't want to use lemonwedgie and I was picking up my daughters socks from the floor ....wedgie - sock that will do :teeth:
