Weather now showing high of 78 and low of 50 for the next two weeks. Is it safe to leave the winter coat at home? We all have Disney sweatshirts or fleece.

I am NOT bringing coats.....but we both have fleece and I threw in a couple pairs of cheap gloves. Don't forget your poncho either. I bought 2 packs of the super cheap double pack of rain ponchos (can't beat 50 cents each). We'll just throw them away if we use them at all.

I just got an email reminder for tomorrow's dinner reservation at Marrakesh :)

23.5 hours and counting.

Wow! That sort of slaps you in the face, doesn't it? :) I loved Marrakesh but hubby didn't want to go back this trip.

Tofubeast has a great list at the beginning of this thread but I was just listing those of us staying at POR, just in case we could throw together a gathering at RiverRoost to see Yeehaa Bob. Sorry for the confusion! :upsidedow

Hah! At my church that's how half the teenagers show up, so why not?
I found out I got picked to do the readings at Christmas Mass for our church, that's pretty awesome. I guess I need a new dress for that.

You definitely need a new dress! What an honor!

I started packing last night! DH probably won't till Tuesday but I couldn't wait any longer. Today's my last day of work, then it's two days worth of errands. 72 hours and we'll be at the airport!

:crazy2: We don't leave for 6 days....actually in 6 days we should be checking in to Royal Pacific resort and heading out to IOA or Universal Studios....... :dance3:

I had a dream that my sister and Maya Rudolph showed up unexpectedly and decided to join my mom and myself, in our room. They wanted me to pay for everything, my sister is pregnant and so couldn't ride anything and wouldn't let us, and Maya was acting much as she did in some of her more obnoxious SNL sketches. I was all, "but I made the Le Cellier ADR 180 days ago! I can't redo it!"

So odd. And my sister would never act like that. And what the heck was Maya Rudolph doing trying to sleep on my floor?!?!

Oh my......do you have some pent up feelings against Maya Rudolph? :rotfl2: How dare she ruin your Le Cellier plans? I mean she can throw around her clout and get in to Le Cellier at the drop of a hat but us common folk cannot. :sad2:

Aw, I love Marrakesh! The last time we went the belly dancer was enchanting, but the highlight was my waiter who was a shameless flirt. Maybe to make up for the belly dancer?

This is our first time. We're bypassing our favorites (Flying Fish, Tokyo Dining) this time to do all the restaurants we haven't done before. :)

If you are getting to the park AFTER rope drop, I think you made a wise choice. I didn't get the FP for either of those just because (esp in Lil Mermaid case), I want to take my time gazing upon all the awesomeness in the queue.....but we're getting there before rope drop on 2 different days so I should be able to see both fairly early in the day. I'm hoping at least!
They are definitely dragging me to Tomorrowland first thing in the a.m., so I also got a FP+ for Space Mountain at RD in hopes of getting through there a little quicker- though probably they'll just ride twice!. So I was happy to get the FP+ for the two new FLE attractions. Though that is a very good point about missing the queue- it does look intriguing and very cute. We're going on a very low crowd day, so I'm hoping to squeeze quite a few things in, but there's no squeezing in those new FLE attractions, I think it's going to be very busy there no matter what day it is!

Three more days til the trip begins! I packed one suitcase for the kids, a backpack for food, a small suitcase of toys for the roadtrip, and I am working on a bag for me and dh. We are downloading movies to the iPad and kindle and taking CDs for the kids music, plus we have Sirius so we should be set on media for 12 hours. The kids know we are going, but I have arranged for Cinderella to send dd a special scroll invitation in a glass slipper for breakfast at CRT! Mickey is sending ds a Mickey ornament for the tree. I am planning for these to arrive in the mailbox the day before we leave, so it will hopefully get them as excited as I am! They are 2 and 4 and this will be their first trip. Hoping ye weather forecast stays nice! Is 75 degrees okay for swimming?

Hubby said he was going to order me some princess package then proceeded to tell me it was over $400! It's through Disney Floral....I'm so glad he mentioned it and I put the cabash on it....that's a crap load of money! I thought it was a sweet thought , though! I love your idea with the scroll and slipper.....and the ornament for your ds. At that age it seems like they almost have to actually BE there to get it. About the temperature for swimming.....the pools are heated, I believe.....hubby and I plan to jump in some nights after a long day at the parks...I've heard it was good for the achy feet!

Good morning! I'm going to get my mani and Minnie-pedi today. I'm going to do red with white tips on my toes, with white polka dots on my big toes. I'm thinking about getting a yellow or silver line to separate the white from the red.

DD received her birthday presents from my mom yesterday. One was a Merida doll with a bow and arrow. It was cute. DD said it was what she had been dreaming of. In the middle of the night, though, she let out this blood-curdling scream "Mommy! MOMMY!" Sick to her stomach? Bloody nose? No. She slept with her Merida doll, and the bow fell out of her hand, and she was afraid she had broken it. She's not dramatic at all.

I love the doll story! I'm also envious of the mani/pedi. I've seen some put a gold/glittery line separating the white from the red! What are you doing for the fingernails? I think I will try to do the feet part myself.....or maybe I'll try to sneak in an appt on friday. We leave saturday!

Hi everyone! :wave2:
I know I am a bit late to the party, but better late than never. I've been popping into these boards here and there for the last few months as I plan our trip (Operation Holly Jolly Birthday Fantasy Surprise, I call it, its a mouthful) and just lurking about... and then I found this thread and couldn't resist registering. So, you lucky people get to read my first post here ever!
I am Holly. I live with my son and daughter and the kitties and doggies in Peyton, Colorado, just outside of Colorado Springs. Sometimes my husband lives here too, but right now he is working at the embassy in Baghdad. :sad1: But, he gets his R&R in just under a week and will be meeting us at WDW then coming home for Christmas, and the kids have NO IDEA. :cool1: When it comes to Disney trips, you can usually find us on the other coast at DLR, this will be my 3rd trip to WDW and DH and the kids' 2nd. In January we spent a lovely dead dead dead week and a half at POR, this trip we will be at CBR from the 10th to the 18th. And the 14th (my birthday) we are going to be crazy and do the dessert party and the MVMCP. I work at home while DS does online school, my daughter goes to "regular" school which is conveniently right across the street, and you can add a couple of new gamers to the group. There's not a system we don't have... right now I am working my way through LittleBigPlanet on my Vita, the boy is playing some Pokemon something on his 3DS, both kids got their "Christmas present" Wii U early and spend a lot of time on that, and when I am in the mood I am still working through Lego Pirates on the 360 and Skyrim on the PS3. I read a lot, I cook a lot, and I cannot wait to leave, it's been one of those... months, I guess? I'm ready for a vacation.

Oh, Holly! WElcome to the group. This will be such a special trip for your whole family.....I love these kinds of trips. My hubby desperately wants the new Wii U. Do you like it? We let our dd take the Wii with her to her apartment when she moved out last August (she's 22 yo)....she doesn't get any movie channels so we felt bad and let her take the Wii so she could at least stream Netflix on that...... but now we don't have a gaming system!

It's... interesting. We only have the game that came with it, which is really a bunch of mini games to show off the new stuff. (at least that's all we have that I let them have before Christmas, muahahahaha!) They are all fun, most of them more fun when you play with other people. The little screen controller is pretty interesting technology and all, but I think if I had to play anything where I had to look back and forth between that and the TV for very long I would just get a massive headache. That controller is WAY lighter than I expected and easy to use. There's a couple "hide and seek" type mini games that we laugh and laugh when we play, whoever has the screen controller gets to hide from the other players, they can see where the others are but the others can't see where they are, if that makes sense. So yea, it's fun, if you aren't needing super high power graphics and like to play together, I'd recommend it for sure. :)

:

Thats pretty much what we decided. We bought the heavy Disney ponchos last time. And we love them so much we've used them here at home, like for events on the National Mall. I just need to replace one that got ripped.

DS2 and are up watching Mickey's Twice Upon a Christmas on ABC Family. I need to get up and get a shower so I can head to church but I'm comfy and don't want to get up yet. Think the ladies at church would mind if I show up with my hair up and sweats on. I'm in vacation mode after all.

I watched it this morning. The Mickey and Pluto story made me cry.

I'd leave them, but then I hate taking extra things. I figure there's not much weather we can't handle with a fleece and a light waterproof shell over it- that's what we've taken all over the world including to Yellowstone where it can go from 80 to freezing in August. I'd rather layer than lug stuff around.

I'm taking my LLBean barn coat, a fleece and a few sweatshirts. But I'm taking the coat since we have to take a car from the apartment to the train station and we'll probably grab a taxi when we get back. And I know it'll be cold here when we get back. I'll pack a pair of the cheap stretch gloves and a few packs of hand warmers.

I just looked at Accuweather again, I'll figure out how much of everything I'll need on Friday.

I think you do need a new dress! That's really awesome!

I leave in 25 hours. Yesterday was productive but not enough. Expect to find me in panic mode by about 2 PM. ;)

We'll have ours in the car but they'll probably stay there all week.

I got a silver line separating the red from the white, and got white Mickey heads on my big toes instead of polka dots.
On my nails I have pink sparkles and white tips--the same thing I get every time.

awesome! It's 2pm and Im not panicking but I more disorganized than I would like to be. I am mostly packed but there seem to be little things everywhere. Reviewing my lists now.

I have to take the wheelchair and some of the luggage to MIL's tonight. She lives right by the airport so we'll park there and she'll shuttle us. But we can't fit the wheelchair, luggage and all the bodies in one car.

One week from right now, I'll be at the train station waiting for the train!

We are still switching around ADRs. Trying to figure out if I can do everything in just a few hours at DHS. I really don't want to go back for our F! package on Saturday and would rather spend Saturday walking around WS. I'm hoping we can see F! on our DHS day on Wednesday.

We are five minutes from the airport. It's a little airport- you would laugh- (but it's international- we have flights to Canada!!) so the air traffic over the house is not annoying, fortunately. Even if it's below zero here we only have to survive from the curb to the airport door (poor DH has to sprint 100 yards from the parking lot, though). Coming back can be pretty cold, however, if the car has been sitting in subzero temps for a week.

I thought my Mountain Hardwear shell was overkill for Florida, so I just bought a little packable waterproof shell to stuff in my bag. And a fleece, and probably a sweater and a couple of long sleeved shirts. Since I only bring a carryon I don't ever bring jeans or sweatshirts, it's all this little travel wardrobe I've developed over the years- mostly synthetics with a little wool, silk or rayon depending on the climate. It all washes and dries really quickly, too. :)

And- good thing you mentioned gloves! Have to add those to the list.

May I have some opinions on some last minute schedule rearranging?

My mom has been hinting a bit that she'd like to go to Animal Kingdom, so I'm trying to rearrange things to make that possible. I'd also like to spend a good long while at the Osborne lights, and was thinking I'd split HS into two visits - one for the lights, and another for Fantasmic. So, it now looks like this. Any opinions would be appreciated!

Mon, Dec 10: Arrive at 2:30 at MCO. Head to MK to see the Main Street Electrical Parade and Fireworks. Ride Haunted Mansion and call it a night.

Tue, Dec 11: Chef Mickey's for Breakfast. Magic Kingdom, then head to Kona at 7:15 for dinner. Take the monorail around to see decorations etc.

Wed, Dec 12: The original plan was to do HS all day, with lunch at Sci-Fi, then hit Fantasmic and Osborne lights. I still kind of like this plan. Revised plan is the morning at AK, then to HS for dinner at Sci-Fi at 6:00, then do Osborne lights.

Thurs, Dec 13: All day at Epcot. La Cellier at 6:15, Illuminations.

Fri, Dec 14: Magic Kingdom in the morning. Lunch at Liberty Tavern at 12:15. HS in the evening, with Fantasmic being the last thing we do.

My only concern is if Fantasmic gets rained out, it's one of the things my mom specifically wants to to (that and Sci-Fi).

Thoughts?

Edit: Alternately, on Tuesday we could do half a day at MK, then bounce over to HS in the evening.
