I'm not doing Rope Drop on our DHS day because I want a morning off to relax with Morimoto Asia Lunch (Noon reservation) and see Disney Springs. That means I plan to get there around 2-2:30 PM. With an 8:30 PM closing time on May 5th, Is it smarter to do Dinner at a Counter Service/Table Service in park or somewhere on the Boardwalk after Fantasmic? Have never been to the Boardwalk area and want to try something there. Only rule is no Character meals.

I agree with disBeast. Of the Disney owned restaurants, we think Hollywood Brown Derby in DHS is as good as it gets in the DHS, Boardwalk area. I definitely wouldn't leave the park to eat at another Disney owned restaurant in the area. OTOH, if you are open to non Disney owned restaurants, we think the Swan/Dolphin signature restaurants are the best WDW as a whole has to offer. (With the exception of V&A, of course.) People who use the dining plan & only eat at DDP eligible restaurants are missing out on the best food at WDW.
