Part 9

April 27, 2005

Today we have a 9:50 PS for breakfast at Ohana. The plan was to leave the Lodge by 8:40 to ensure we had plenty of time to get over there. The Mickey call came on time, and I realizing I could breathe again, allergies long gone, was ecstatic. Plus, I hadn’t set foot in the Polynesian in 10 years. It was going to be a good day.

And it was a good day. We got launched early (a first for us). Made it down to the boat dock and had no problem getting on a boat to the Contemporary. Got to the platform, once again, just as the monorail was arriving. Got to the Polynesian by ohh, about 9:10. We checked in, got our beeper thing, and (what else?) went shopping. Our beeper went off; they took our picture, and we were seated by 9:40. They seated us with a great view of the lake and the Magic Kingdom. They also handed us pineapple bread which was out of this world. We had a very enjoyable breakfast: great character interaction, excellent food, and an awesome server. We did end up buying the picture package, which as WDW pictures go, was a very good deal. When we finally finished up, we waddled out of the restaurant. Not kidding. Eat there. The food is very good.

After breakfast we did some shopping on the ground floor, took some pictures, then hopped the monorail to the Grand Floridian. This is my mom’s favorite hotel. We stayed there 11 years ago. As my mom likes to put it, we stayed there in another life time. We did the obligatory picture taking, and some shopping. By this time Laura and I had discovered that a lot of the hotels had those professional pictures on cards for sale: pictures of the hotels. Yeah we’re suckers for that kind of thing. We bought them.

Onward to the Contemporary. Did some shopping there. Had my instincts confirmed that this just isn’t a place I want to stay. The views would be cool from the tower, but it’s just not my thing. After shopping we went down to the boat dock, stopping for pina coladas and strawberry daqueris for the grown ups (It’s 5 o clock somewhere) and more picture taking. You have to realize that we had 3 Nikons and another camera between the 5 of us. 2 of the cameras on the trip were digitals. Yet we also took 14 rolls of film. Hopped the boat back to the Lodge, deposited our purchases and headed for the bus stop. It was time to go to Downtown Disney.

Glad to hear the O'hana caracter breakfast was great. We are doing the same two weeks from now. Thanks for the update!
