Part 14

Saturday April 30, 2005

This morning, no wake up call. Woke up on my own with that nasty feeling. The one you get when you know it’s your last day before going back to reality. The worst feeling in the world.

The original plan for the day was to see Grammy and Grampa off (they were starting their long journey home to way northern New Hampshire) and then head for the Magic Kingdom. As we woke up though, we realized we didn’t have the motivation to deal with the excessive heat (forecast 90 degrees), humidity, or the park crowds. In other words we weren’t going to have to ride It’s a Small World this trip.

Grammy and Grampa pulled out of the WL parking lot around 10 am. I’ve said it before, emotions were high on this trip, and today was no different. Our visit with them had been very short, and we wouldn’t see them until the following weekend, after they had made the 1500 mile journey home. BTW, they were driving home.

We headed back to the villa and decided we didn’t want to hit the parks. Decided instead to go explore some more resorts and try out Beaches and Cream. We hopped on a bus to MGM and from there we took the boat over to the Yacht and Beach Club. We’d never been there before, and walking into the lobby of the Yacht Club was awesome. We will absolutely stay at both of these hotels some time. We were in love, immediately. We explored the YC for a bit, and then headed for Beaches and Cream, taking more pictures along the way. At Beaches and Cream we ordered burgers, which lived up to their reputation as best on property. After the burgers we obviously had to try the sundaes. That was why we came all the way over here. So we did. Between the five of us we split the Milky Way Sundae, the No Way Jose, and the Fudge Mudslide sundae. We didn’t fully finish a single one of them, but we sure had fun trying. Waddled out of the B&C (which we thoroughly enjoyed) full of sugar and in much better spirits. Explored the BC a bit more, taking time to take pictures with the DVC Ariel near the villas, then we walked over to “The scene of the Crime”.

The scene of the Crime is the Boardwalk. That’s where mom and stepdad bough DVC last year. Last year the 2 of them never really saw the Boardwalk. The 3 of us girls, however, remembered it well. This time around the 5 of us checked out some of the stores and walked around. It was getting unbearably hot at this point, however, so we hopped on a boat back to MGM, to return to the Wilderness Lodge. Once we got back to MGM we hopped on a bus, and were back “home” before we knew it. We quickly changed and headed for the pool.

Spent some time swimming then went back to the villa for dinner. Since it was our last night, we had dinner in the villa, to use up all the leftovers. Did a little packing then decided it was time for one last swim. We hadn’t checked out the main pool yet; it was always so busy, and we decided that after dinner would be the perfect time. We went over to the main pool, and climbed in. We found that the area where the water flows into the pool off the rocks is THE place to hang out. Boy that felt good on our shoulders. After swimming, one last dip in the hot tub then back to our villa for some serious packing. Set the wake up call for 7, since we were to be flag family the next morning.
