Parsailing on Castaway - PLEASE CONVINCE ME IT'S OKAY!!!!

yes you can....I think the weight limit is 350 or 375...I am in the 200's and went up with my godson tandam and we got off the ground LOL...

My 17 year old DD did this when we were at Castaway.

She enjoyed it, but what she didn't like is that they tandemed her with a young woman. This woman's mother also parasailed, and DD had no idea why they didn't tandem the two of them. (It wasn't a size/weight problem.)

She also got a bit grossed out. One dad tandemed with his son and got sick to his stomach. Okay, it happens, but the icky part is that they put the vest on the next person without cleaning it first.:(

As I first said, she liked it, but wasn't thrilled with certain aspects of it.

GROSS!!!!!!!!! Talk about spreading the virus. I know that he got motion sickness but that is DISGUSTING!!!

I, too, am going to try it (I hope) even though I am afraid of heights. I know my husb. would be thrilled if I were to go up with him, so I hope to surprise him. Questions to anyone who knows, pls.:
1) Can we ride together definitely? - I won't go up alone
2) How do you start off & how do they bring you down & what's the landing like?
3) Can I order this prior to going on the trip?
4) My 12yo (95 lbs.) wants to go up too. Can he?

Thanks everyone.

It looks like as long as you weigh 90 lbs, you can do it. (I thought the lower limit was lower than that - but I can't find it anywhere.) I heard that the only time they wouldn't take two up is if the weather was particularly windy.
Can anyone else verify or correct this?

DH and I parasailed last week in Nassau. (I've parasailed before, DH first time). DH and I are both over 200 lbs. I was 200 before leaving for the cruise (but being pregnant that could have changed) and DH was 220 lbs. They tried to tell us to go up together to get more time in the air, but I said NO WAY. We went seperate. A couple went up before us went one in front of the other and a couple after us went up side by side. I don't know what makes that determination. The couple that went side by side were NOT the same weight for sure.

We had to take a little boat out to a big boat then change in the middle of the ocean. That was scarey.

We went up pretty darn high. Like I said, I've done it before and that was the highest I ever went. It was awesome, and we stayed up 10 mins each. It felt like forever.

So I really can't comment on Castaway Cay, but it is an awesome experience. If you can fly in a plane you can parasail. It is so smoothe and relaxing!

On CC, you do not change boats. And I believe they only do tandems w/one in front of the other. Was told that they decide whether or not someone is able to tandem based on weather conditions.....safety reasons. The way you go up and down.....you stand on the back platform on the boat, and as they accelerate, you gently lift up into the air. Coming back down is just as smooth.

I hope I can help you with some of those ?????

The weight limit I believe is 90 lbs and your son should be able to go. The max is 375 lbs (2 people total) and they will decide once they get out there if you will be able to go tandam or not. We were able too, but now I wish we would have gone separate. I think we would have gone up higher...at least it looked that way.

What they have you do is sit down and then they slowely lift you up in the air. I believe the rope is 200 ft long and once it gets to the end, they let you there for a minute then they start reeling you back in. Once you get close to the boat they are there to help you land on your feet. It really is an easy thing to do :)

Also you stay on the same boat so there is no switching out in the middle....now that would scare me

Can an 11 yo who only weighs 78 lbs. go up in tandem with an adult? My 84 yo grandmother wants to go up with my son but I am not sure if they will let him because of his weight.

DECEMBER99 having met u i say that u and DD will be fine....
try it u will like it..... the ride is way to short , at CC from other places that have done it....... peter
