We have heard that Parrot Cay is not that great and we are wondering if that is the night to do Palo?

That would be a night I would do Palos, but again everyone has different preferences. I think that one of our nights in Parrot Cay was tropical night however, so depending on your rotation you may want to keep that in mind.

Parrot Cay was my MOST favorite restaurant. Animators Palate was YUKKY nasty IMHO.Go to Palo THAT night. Really. Parrot Cay GOOD, Animators BAD...

I agree with Wonderwoman 1982. On our first cruise we did all 3 restaurants(1 ended up in our room). PC was my favorite AP was my least favorite. So, on our recent cruise, we skipped AP for Palo. However, after doing Palo, I would skip any one of the 3 for that. It would be well worth it...even if just for the chocolate souffle! ;)

Parrot Cay is my least favorite (although I like their gumbo and the vegetarian curry), so that's usually the one we skip. We did skip Animators once, since we pretty much know the show by heart, but PC is our usually Palo night.

We love Parrot Cay. We usually opt to skip Animator's Palate for Palos.

IMHO I would skip Animators. Wasn't impressed with it at all.

We ate at Animators Palate the first night and I felt the experience was very magical. I don't want to spoil the experience for you but, if you have younger kids, it was very fun.

You may want to check out the menus in the attached link (thanks again to Dave from Marrietta for the good info!). Maybe the menus will help you decide.

We also loved PC...the menu at AP was least appealing to us, but we didn't want to miss the LIGHT SHOW that they do...so we did an early Palo dinner at 6pm...then went to our regular dinner time at 8:30 in AP...I got an appetizer and DH got an Appet. and dessert...we enjoyed the light show, so I wouldn't miss it, but we were glad we chose that night to skip the meal...nothing on the menu appealed to us. Check out the menus at www.dcltribute.com. Don't miss Palo...do the dinner, brunch, and high tea.

The first time we cruised we all loved Parrot Cay, followed by Lumiere's and Animator's Palate. We did the 3 day so we didn't dine in Palo. This past May we were looking forward to dining in Parrot Cay again but found this time we didn't like it at all and liked Animator's better. Go figure. If I were sailing again soon I definitely would go to Palo on our Parrot Cay night. In fact, if they'd let me, I'd dine in Palo every night!!!

We loved Parrot Cay too, but not because of the food (which was just o.k. in all of the restaurants except for Palo's). There's a band (well, a couple of guys) playing tropical stuff during most of the dinner, and towards the end the servers started a congo line and had a limbo contest. DS6 and DD8, (who spend most of their dinner time at home listening to us tell them to stay in their seats during dinner), revelled in the excuse to get up and dance around the room with mom and dad. Our least favorite was probably Tritons! (I'll save ya'll from my cruise food rant for now).

I would skip Parrot Cay if you have children. Animators is a lot of fun for them. We have been on 3 cruises and did Palos on PC night the first time and did PC the next 2 cruises. When we next go we will skip Parrots.:bounce: :Pinkbounc

We expected not to like Parrot Cay based upon the posts but found that it had a nice atmosphere. We were not very impressed with the Animator's show the first night. The same menu is served in all three resturants on the same night so the food is all the same no matter where you dine (except Palo). Next time, I would skip the second night at Animators and go to Palo, but again, everyone's different.

To each his own - BUT Parrot Cay is my FAVORITE spot. It has such a tropical atmosphere that the other rest do not have. I love the casual tropical feel the best!
:D

Regarding Animator's Palate...

...keep in mind that you only get to see the "light show" when you get Animator's for Rotation Dining. If you want to see the much-hyped light show but want to skip one of your nights at Animator's, be sure you skip the night you're there for one of the same-menu-in-all-three-restaurants nights.

So, Dave, if I read you right, the light show will be one of the first three nights of the cruise...whichever one you are in Animator's? I still don't get all the dinners and schedules!

with the rotation, you do all 3 dining locations and then repeat one. The diference is that the night you do the repaet, you get a menu that has food from WDW, Epcot etc. Everyone dining on repaet night throughout the ship get the same menu. :bounce: :Pinkbounc
