Parmalat milk?

Ok. Ok. I know. I'm full of questions today but we leave this Saturday and I need to ask.

We are thinking about using the Parmalat boxed milk for our 14 month old DD at WDW. Has anybody used this milk before? Does it taste like regular refrigerated milk? Would it be a good idea to take some into the parks with us or just buy milk at the parks?

Denise (Still 4 more days to go!)

I buy it often for road trips. I haven't tasted it yet but the kids seem to like it. If I were you I would take it into the parks. If I remember correctly milk was hard unless it was a sit down or buffett resturant. I have frozen the boxes before so they would be cold when DD drank them.

it tastes exactly the same to me. We buy it all the time for travel and we even keep a quart lying around the house for those times when you forget to buy milk and just cant stand the thought of running back out to get it.

It's regular milk that i believe is just pastuerized at a much higher temperature than normal in order to kill the slightest traces of everything. (I think it says UHT or something like that for ultra high temperature). ALthough many (myself included) refer to it as 'fake milk' i think theres nothing unusual about it.

Just make sure if you're used to rgular dont buy skim and vice-versa. Where we leave the A&P has regular, skim, 1%, 2%, chocolate regular or skim, bananna, and vanilla flavored!

and like sha_lyn said- you can freeze it so the kids can get a cold milk anywhere.

I've never had it, but we buy it for DS when we go camping. He's never indicated that he's noticed a difference, and he drinks a ton of milk.

i'VE HAD IT BEFORE. I DON'T REMEMBER EXACTLY WHAT IT TASTED LIKE, BUT I DID LIKE IT.

Thanks for asking this. I have to put that on my "to buy" list for our trip at the end of Nov. for our 14 month old.

Just tried it a few weeks ago and it was great. I especially liked the strawberry flavor. My 6yo son liked the chocolate and my husband liked the regular. We used it for drinking right out of the box and for on cereal. I would definitely buy it again. We took a collapsible cooler for our room at PO-Riverside. We put a few boxes of the milk and some ice in it and had cold milk for breakfast.

Home Ec teacher weighing in here :D mikek is right it is "real" milk and it is just pasturized at an extremly high temp. You shouldn't notice a difference in taste unless you buy whole when you are used to drinking skim etc.

tasbm1 - I didn't realize it came in so many different flavors now! I guess it's been a while since I bought it last.

I've only seen the chocolate, 2% and skim milk around here. I buy the ultra pasturized grapefruit juice all the time and only notice a slight difference in the taste. It has a slightly "cooked" taste to me. I would assume the milk would be the same.

I have had the regular, chocolate, strawberry and vanilla flavor of the parmalat. I have not tried the banana flavor. They are great for kidssnacks and lunches!

We took this on our trip last year so we could have breakfast in the room. It tasted like regular milk. You should be fine with it. I'm getting ready to stock up for this years trip.

My DH swears he can taste the difference. I certainly can't. As a hint, though,
I not only take it with us traveling but I stick a carton or two in the fridge before
we travel. That way, when we return, we have milk for breakfast that isn't spoiled
and I don't have to run to the store the second we get home.:o

To me it tastes better as it never has that "almost going bad" taste or smell. We are bringing a bunch of the little boxes of chocolate for our dd2.5 for this trip, even to bring in the parks. At least if they have some milk it's got some protein, etc. Ds4.5 gets the soydream chocolate ones, as he's milk allergic.

I never tasted it, but I had a similar situation when my daughter was 14 months old. We were traveling in Europe and could not get a refrigerator for the room so we were forced to keep Parmalat (or other similar European brands) on hand. Actually, it is much more common in Europe and I'm not sure they even have our type of milk over there. My 14 month old never so much as blinked an eye. She drank it without any complaints.

I just found the vanilla and strawberry at a local store. DD pick the strawberry to take to school. She had her first one today and said it was good but she didn't drink all of it. I asked her if she ever drinks all her drink and she said no. Of course I've been told the 3 girls in her class (only 3 girls out of 10 students) spend snack time talking instead of eating.
