My family has booked a 2-bedroom condo at the Parkway Vacation Village for a week in December. The pictures look nice, but their website has only basic info. Has anyone ever stayed there? Is it as convenient as they say?

It is very convenient to WDW. When I stayed there in '02, there was not a lot of activities on the resort but the rooms were nice and as mentioned, very close to WDW. Arabian Knights is just across the street.

Weloved it...It's clean, new and 1.5 miles to WDW...Very nice.

It's like 2 one bedroom apartments as you get 2 livingrooms, 2 bedrooms, 2 kitchens (one partial and one full)

Great location...

fourflans,
I am there oct 15-22nd, if you'd like I will try and send you a report after the stay.

That would be great! Any tips for what to expect when we get there, how the kitchen is stocked, what's there for the kids, etc........ Thanks!

We stayed in the one bedroom, partial kitchen unit in July and thought it was very nice. We walked through the "other side" which has the full kitchen and it was definitely very nice.

The kitchen is stocked with EVERYTHING you could need as far as dishes, cookware, etc. Ours even had salt & pepper. There was a bag when we got there that had some dishwashing liquid, couple rolls of toilet paper, roll of paper towels, that type of thing. I did buy some liquid hand soap because I prefer it over the bar soaps for washing hands.

Is there anything specific you are wondering about?

We really enjoyed staying there. The only real downside to me was the pools. They just weren't very extraordinary, just a pool. It didn't bother us much because we didn't spend a day at the condo, we were always on the go.

I think you will really like it!

We do have two small children, so I know we'll spend some time at the pool. Since we've not been to Disney before, they won't have anyting to compare it too except our neighborhood pool at home, so probably will like it just fine.

The resort indicated that they have a shuttle to and from the parks. Did you find it to be convenient--easy to find, good times going back and forth, etc.--or should we plan to use our own car?

I never saw a shuttle, we always used our car. I don't remember even seeing information on a shuttle. The parks are very close and easy to get to by car, but I am not sure about the shuttle????

OK--we'll be prepared to drive ourselves then. Does anyone know if there is a washer/dryer in unit?

We had a stackable washer/dryer in our unit, as did the couple we travelled with. I had read on this board that not all units had one. Of course, since you have both sides (2 bedrooms), you have a better chance I would guess. I would specifically ask at check in and maybe even call down there to see if you can request a unit with one. I washed several loads while I was there so I wouldn't have so much to do when I got home....

We truly enjoyed staying there. The units were very nice in my opinion and I only had the partial kitchen side. Our kids used the pool, it was nice, just not extravagant. WE got in the hot tub, and it was nice. They have a playground that we didn't visit. The staff was very helpful. The only issue I had was the A/C in our unit. It worked, just TOO GOOD, our temperature stayed at 62. We had maintenance there 3 times.

Make sure you go through the town of Celebration. It is very nice. They had just opened a grocery store that was CARPETED.....very nice. My daughter said Celebration reminded her of The Stepford Wives area :rotfl: However, that said, it was nice, people driving these neat golf carts, etc.

I assume you have your tickets, etc taken care of, but if you don't Ticketmania worked great for us!

I have our tickets ordered through Ticketmania--just not received yet. I've already purchased tix for the Very Merry Christmas Party and the Candlelight Processional. And have reserved a day at Discovery Cove for DH and oldest daughter. I think I'm more excited than the kids--but of course, I'm the one doing most of the planning and organizing. I did buy the Scene It Disney game last week, and the kids really started bubbling over when we played it, about seeing this character and that princess when we get there. I absolutely can't wait to see my 5 yr old's face the first time she catches a glimpse of Belle--that will be the best Christmas present in the world!
