Parks Scrapbook?

We just finished our WDW vacation and spent much of it scouring the gift shops in 3 different parks for an official Disney World 12x12 scrapbook, but couldn't find one. We've made a scrapbook for each vacation since we started going in 2011 and this is the first year we were unable to find a scrapbook anywhere on property! There were lots of photo albums, but no scrapbooks. Are they just falling out of fashion now? Or sold out? Anyone know?

Were you at WDW or DLR? I know they haven't had any scrapbook albums at all at DLR for several years. I looked for an 8x8 album in WDW a few years back but could only find the 12x12 ones. I wouldn't be at all surprised to hear they have discontinued those as well. I haven't seen any scrapbooks on the Disney website in a long time. It's very disappointing.

We were at wdw. Checked MK, AK, and Epcot gift shops and we only found photo albums, no scrapbooks.

Yeah, I think odds are pretty high they are gone now at WDW as well.

These may not be official from Disney but they are Disney themed:

Hallmark has a "Disney Mickey Mouse Instant Scrapbook" on sale right now: http://www.hallmark.com/gifts/albums/scrapbooks/disney-mickey-mouse-instant-scrapbook-1EDY2143.html

I have bought from all of these sources over the years and they are reputable.

And don't forget eBay and Etsy!

Thanks Kathy! I actually have and have filled many of those. I'm sure I'll eventually pick up the few in that list I don't have yet. But it's really disappointing that the styles don't turn over faster. Some of those have been around for many years. And eventually it seems like I'll run out of styles for our annual trips.

I'm all over Ebay always looking. But I really miss having the official parks dated books. :(

ITA - I used to love the ones with the year on them and they disappeared a long time ago. I actually dismantled my 1990 and 1992 and 1999 scrapbooks recently for scanning and storage elsewhere. I have so many pictures from all our trips I am still debating whether to do them by a theme (i.e. by park, by favorite shots or what) or chronologically or a mixture. But probably the best way would be photo books. That way someday DS could enjoy them more!

I love having mine chronological. It's like going back and reliving each of those trips. But I think some themed albums would be fun too. One of these days I'm going to do a character album with picks of some of my best character shots through the years. I did do a character photo book several years ago that we keep with us as an autograph book.

You're probably right about chronological for at least the years DS was 18 and younger. I like the idea of a character picture book for autographs.

How big is a typical chronological album for you (number of pages front/back)?

And thanks for providing your thoughts; it's great to bounce my ideas off of someone who loves photography as much as I do!

Thanks for that info! I'll check out those sources and send them along to the MIL.

I didn't realize you were a scrapbooker too! But it makes sense given your photography skills.

My older albums are pretty manageable, 15-20 double page layouts. My books in recent years have gotten even bigger, with some being split into 2 albums. Right now I'm working on an album from our 2007 trip west and am struggling with how "few" photos I have.

There's tons of inspiration on Pinterest for Disney scrapbooking. I have a few boards there were I love to keep ideas of pages I want to do.

I think my last dated parks album was our 2014 DL trip. I was really disappointed in 2015 when DL didn't do one for the 60th anniversary. And nothing since then either.

Same here with 2 albums for a trip. Our 3 week trip out west in 2000 fills 2 overstuffed albums and that was pre-digital.

I've really got some food for thought here; been putting Disney scrapbooking off for too long. Well, except for all the Disney scrapbooking supplies I have kept on accumulating each year .

Well, the supply collecting seems to be a hobby all by itself!

So are you digital scrapbooking? I still have not made the conversion. I still love using real live paper and supplies.

I seem to need to do some Disney scrapping for a while every year. That doesn't mean I'm scrapping my latest trip when I do that though. I just did my 2015 book(s) earlier this year, but haven't started our 2016 trip. I still need to go back and do 2012 and 2014 as well. One thing I do though is sit down and do a day by day journal after getting home from every trip so I always have the details captured and it's not hard to scrap any of it later.

So I don't scrap in order, but I put pages in books in chronological order.
