Parks on MLK Weekend

I'm hoping to visit DL and DCA from 17-18 Jan, which is Sunday/Monday of MLK weekend. Any recommendations on which park to visit on each day? Are crowds much larger this weekend? Thanks.

We will be there over part of MLK weekend too and I've also been wondering how how the crowd levels will be.

We went a few years ago and I remember Sunday being very crowded. It thinned out after the fireworks. I think the park stayed open pretty late that night. We left mid-day Monday and I really can't remember what that was like. I think we spent much of the morning shopping.

I do remember going in on Saturday and being amazed that it wasn't as crowded as I had anticipated.

Of course, there are more annual pass holders now, so who knows what it will be like this year...

We were there a few years ago on Fri/Sat of MLK weekend. The crowds weren't bad at all. It was rainy on the Saturday, so I'm sure that had a lot to do with the lack of crowds. They say that rain keeps a lot of locals away.
