I checked on touring plans for next week coming up in August says the park crowds are between a 4-6. Is that good? I'm not going next week but thinking about going next August 25th- sept.1st.

Those are best guesses, no way they can know for sure. I wouldn't plan my future visit based on them.

Honestly? At this point... it's crowded. Always. Crowd calendars are really pretty useless. Avoid spring break and Christmas week, plan for it to be crowded, and anything else will be a happy surprise.

It will be good. Not as low crowds as sept. You have Halloween parties started and some kids don't go back to school until after Labor Day. But not nearly as crowded as July or early August. Even though summer is getting less crowded.

As far as #s. A 4 could be a 2-6 pretty much. Doesn't mean too much but the extremes. A 1 isn't going to turn into a 9 or vice versa.

I never use crowd calendars to pick travel dates- decide when you want/can go and do it. I use them to pick which park I go to on which day.

DITTO. LOW crowd times as we once knew them no longer exist.

4-6 is very comfortable! Even a 7-8 is still very comfortable with a good touring plan. My large group managed a level 8 day we were locked into with our FP+ and made it work.
Have a great time planning.

One more thing ...

The way Disney operates now, lower crowds only mean less people in the parks. It does not translate into shorter wait time for rides. During these times they run less ride vehicles, only open one track instead of two on a ride, staff lower numbers of CMs, etc. It also will be easier to find a table at a counter service restaurant, but there will be less CMs taking orders, and some locations close during lower-crowd periods.

Toy Story Land will also open next summer, so the crowd calendars are 'out the window' - similar to this year and Pandora opening.
