so, just how crowded are the parks over new year's and the following weekend? how about a few days of the following week? we're trying to plan our exact dates, but b/c of work, the actual holiday is the best time. is it too crowded to enjoy and see enough attractions? or does the crowd make it more exciting over the holiday?
thanks!

I was there Dec 30-Jan 6, 2002. But, I ended up with a kindey stone and we didn;t get to do a whole lot. The crowds seemed manageable the last few days (while I waled around on pain medicine :)

We were there 1999/2000. From Dec 27 thru Jan. 2 (which was a Sunday) place was packed but we still enjoyed a lot using the early entry (EE) mornings.

We were there thru Jan. 6 and the 3rd thru the 6th there was no one there! It was great. We also had beautifyul weather!

I'm embarassed to admit - I slept thru the big New Year's celebration!

Wheee!!!
New Year's Eve is the busiest night of the year..
Now, saying that, because of the decline in attendance, the last couple have not been that
bad. All the parks have been open to 1am or
so with extra fireworks New Years. The best
thing to do is to stay at a resort for that week,
if you can, becauuse if they start restricting
park admittance, the resort guests are the last
to be denied admission, especially if you've
been in a park earlier that day.
We've been going down over New Year's every
year since 1992, only missing Y2K.
This last year 2002/2003 was very busy
until about 8pm when the heavens opened.
We stuck around till about 10:45 and decided to
head back to the BCV. Our villa looked into Epcot,
so's we watched the fireworks from our villa
through the rain and smoke.
The 2nd through 4th was not bad -the 4th
was EMPTY, comparatively. The parks were
all open late from Christmas to the 4th
Midnight for EC, and 1030 for MGM.. and open
early for all the parks.
We love staying a couple of days after New
Year's as the parks really do empty out
compared to the week before!

Have fun!

We will be at OKW from 12/28-1/02/04. we were there last yeararound the same time and started NY eve at MGM and then went to Epcot for PS at Teppanyaki. It was very crowded and they handed out hat and noise makers(around 6pm). If it hadn't poured , we would have stayed until 12 but we did leave after our meal around 10pm and went to BW while DH retrieved car fro MGM. Then home to OKW to watch ball drop and see some of the fireworks from Epcot from our patio. Hope no repeat of the rain this year. We had new year's breakfast at 1900 PF and then toured MK. After Newy Year's Eve, things quiet down and touring the parks is less crowded. Very quiet! Alot of folks had holiday lights up at OKW along with the resort decorations, it was very festive. Can't wait to return. We know that MK closed to all guests by 2pm NYEve last year, but we are thinking we might try the craziness there this time. Epcot had alot of folks but it is spread out more that MK. We'll see!
