We are arriving late after 6pm to our hotel POFQ is there any kind of discounted ticket I can get for myself and 2 kids 6&7 to get in to the park only for the evening, or do they only have full day tickets?

Only full day tickets-- you have to make the choice if you want to use a day's ticket just to go for a few hours or not. I choose not. LOL

Arriving that late (after 6pm) I personally would not use a days ticket to go to the parks... unless I was feeling very rested after the trip there AND maybe, only maybe, if say they had the e-night at one of the parks and it was going to be open really late like atleast midnight or later. Maybe I would then.... but probably not. I'd probably just have a PS for dinner somewhere outside of the parks (resorts or DTD) and spend some time either at my resort, resort pool, or downtown disney or DQ maybe. Get to bed early- and get rested for a full day at the park the next day. :)

There are many things to do outside the parks on your first night.
You can go to Chef mickey's to see all the characters and then do the monorail loop to check out GF and the Poly.
You can also do some swimming at your resort and walk around and check it out. Get to bed early that first night!!!!! :cool1: :cool1:

I was thinking of going to Chef Mickys the first night the kids would love that. (me too) THanks for your answers!

We just got back, and if I'm not mistaken, the difference between a 5 day and 6 day ticket was something like 2 or 4 dollars. We arrived on a Sunday at 4:30pm, got checked in, and were at the AK by 5pm. They had a late night, and we did enough that we only went back to AK for a couple of hours on a later day, just to hit the things that weren't open at night.

So, depending on your specific circumstances, it could be something beneficial, for very little money.

If you want to relax after checking in that late, consider taking the boat from POFQ to DTD.

Before they announced the MYW tickets, I too would have said to do something outside the parks that first night. But now, depending on your total length of stay, it may be worth it to buy a longer ticket and hit the park.

We'll only be there for 5 full days, but the difference between a 5-day pass with park hopping privileges and a 7-day park hopper - bought in advance at the Disney Store - is less than $3! So now we plan to hit MGM on Sunday evening when it's open late, and maybe go to AK on Saturday briefly before we hit the road homewards. And if we don't make it to either one, we haven't lost much.

So look at your total length of stay and compare the ticket prices for different lengths of stay. It may or may not be worth it. And as the others have said, there are a lot of things you can do instead of the parks!
