I'm sure this has been asked a million times but I have to ask anyway. Is there a charge to park at the theme parks? We are renting a townhouse and want to make sure we are adequately prepared with cash.

TIA!

Yes, I believe it's $8/day. But if you park-hop in the same day, I'm pretty sure you won't have to pay twice. Just show your receipt/pass.

It is $8 a day and if you park hop, you just have to show your parking ticket.

Thanks, I knew you guys would have the answer for me!

Are there any ways to get around that fee? Is it possible to park at DTD and take a shuttle or anything similar?

My DH and I are taking our honeymoon in March 27-April 2 if we bought the park hopper ticket and stayed offsite would it be better to take the bus or trolly to the next park or drive? We plan on getting to the parks real early to start our day and parking but if we wantd to move on to the next park would it be easier to trolly or drive?

Anyone ever been on your Honeymoon in Disney? We have name tag like things that say " Yes were on our Honeymoon " is that to silly or dumb, we couldnt find the Honeymoon or bride and groom shrits in our area.
If you have been to WDW on your Honeymoon whats it like is it magical give me some tips for inside the parks

You could. For MK, you'd have to take a bus from DTD to CR, Poly, GF, or TTC and go from there (monorail/walk). For MGM/Epcot, you'd have to take the bus to an Epcot-area resort and then take the boat to either. For AK, you'd have to get to any resort and then hop a bus to AK. All that moving around takes time and in some cases I don't think it's worth the $8 savings, JMHO.

It depends on what park you are leaving and going to. If you start your day at Epcot and end up at MGM, I'd park at MGM and boat to Epcot. Then do that backwards. Epcot/MK you can just park at the TTC and monorail to both. Otherwise, I'd drive.

There aren't any name tags that I know of, but a lot of people wear the bride and groom hats. :teeth:

Congrats!

If you are staying onsite and want to take your own car to the parks, is parking free? When we went in 2003 it was free if you stayed on site.

Thanks for the advice; definitely sounds like it won't be worth the hassle.

Well it might be worth the hassle for MK. When you park at MK, you park at TTC, then ride the tram to the monorail or ferry and then it takes you to MK. Early in the morning when everyone is arriving, it can get a little crowded and slow.

I don't know what times the buses run at DTD, but if they run early, you could park there, take the bus to the CR and walk to MK. Probably take the same amount of time or less.

It's too bad they don't offer a week-long parking pass for like $25. :( Guess it's another way to get you to stay onsite. ::MickeyMo

Wouldn't that be nice? They're pretty smart with marketing. I think the free transportation to and from the airport is ingenious. Now people don't have to rent a car and Disney gets all their spending money. Why couldn't I think of that?

However, we're getting a four bedroom, three bath townhouse with a 2.5 acre pool complex for under $100 per night. I doubt any Disney property could touch that price. Plus, I like the idea of being able to make my own breakfast.

Another question, is there any risk in waiting until a week or two before the trip to purchase park tickets? I'd rather wait until my next credit card billing cycle to make that purchase. It would be nice if I didn't have to pay for airfare and park tickets in the same month.

Yeah, staying offsite is better financially, but so many people (including my Disney-brainwashed self) think the perks to staying onsite outweigh the money. But that's another debate in itself!

What kind of tickets are you getting? MYW? Now last time I bought tickets they were PHPs, so things might be different, but usually you can get a discount by buying them from a reputable dealer. www.ticketmania.com has a good reputation and you can buy them ahead of time and have them delivered or pick them up at their office. If you are staying offsite, you might as well do that and save the shipping charge.

I'm sure people could debate that all day long. Maybe if I had my own children, it would be a different story. However, my husband and I are taking our nephew and my brother on this trip and I don't know that I could handle having them in the same hotel room the entire time. (Yes, you read that right, I have a nine year old brother. He was born while I was away at college.) If money weren't an object, I'd be back at the GF where I stayed on business in November! Maybe when we have our own children, we'll spoil them more.

About the tickets, we're planning on buying five day passes. We figure we'll take one day off from the parks to spend at the pool. I looked at that ticketmania website last week. I have a feeling we may end up going that route. I'm always looking to save a buck!

That's very nice of you to take your brother and nephew. Is this their first trip? They'll have a blast!

I know what you mean...I'm not a tightwad or anything, but I can't STAND to pay more for something than I have to. It helps that I'm online for work and I can research things. I feel sorry for people who pay top dollar b/c they don't know any better.

I ordered my tickets last year from hotwire and felt I got a great deal. And b/c I ordered 7 days instead of 4, we have 3 leftover for our trip in October! Woohoo!

I spend most of my day in front of a computer so I, too, have the privilege of having the internet at my disposal. Nice perk for things like this.

This will be a first trip for both boys. They're going to love it.

Does hotwire still sell tickets?

You know, I'm not sure as I cancelled my membership a few months back. You might do a search or ask on the Budget Board. That is how I heard about it.

Be sure to do a trip report when you get back!

Oh, have you found Live365 yet?

Live365

I'm not familiar with Live365. I just clicked on the link and it was blocked by out firewall...oops!

Well boo on that. It's a free radio station online that has Disney stations. I listen to Radio Buena Vista that plays Disney park music and scripts from the rides!
