I am staying at a hotel that has a free shuttle to Disneyland, but I was thinking it would be easier to drive and pay $8 to park. Does this allow in-and-out privileges? Also, is is a long walk to Disneyland gate from the parking lots?

<font color=navy>Hi & welcome to the DIS. :sunny:

Parking does allow for in & out privileges each day. You can walk to Disneyland and California Adventure, but it would be quite a trek (though I've done it before). They have shuttles that pick you up at a point near where Downtown Disney meets the two parks, and you walk from there. I would think that it would take you less time to take the shuttle directly to your hotel rather than taking a shuttle back to the parking structure, go up the escalator to the right floor (it's 6 stories high), and then walk to your car - if you're lucky, you'll park near the escalators, but there is also the chance that you'll park at the other end.

Maybe someone who's actually experience both could give their 2 cents. :)

I agree with Mary Jo. Although I live about 1/2 hour's drive from DL, I always alot about 1 hour when meeting someone inside the front gates. It will take a minimum of 20 mins. to park, walk to and go down the escalators, wait for a tram, drive and drop-off at downtown Disney, go through the lines and security check at the front gate, before getting in. It will take a little longer if you just missed the tram and have to wait for the next one.
