Is there a way to get free parking...or discounted parking for OFF SITE guests?

I have AAA as well as a military husband...I am going for 8 days...i would HATE to pay full price every day!!

then stay on site! Sorry but that is a perk for guests and one that people often forget to factor into the off site cost factor. Many off site daily costs aren't as cheap as people think when they factor in $14 a day charge.

I have never heard of a discount on parking, AAA gives you a pass to park closer if you book thru them but it still costs $14.

No, not unless you are an AP holder. :)

I totally agree with Hannathy. Stay onsite. That's how you get your parking discount. AAA free parking applies when you book your onsite WDW package with them.

Just figure in the additional amount of $14 per day as a cost of your off-site rental.

Other two options are to buy an Annual Pass or stay on site.

I soo wish i could!! i would stay onsite but our honeymoon gift was 2 weeks at a condo offsite!! i am going to stay one night on site because i cant go to WDW without staying on site!!

If you're going for 2 weeks (and don't already have tickets), then the AP would benefit you anyway. Normally an AP makes sense if you go for around 8-9 days in the same year. I don't know if you were planning on going to the park every day though. But think of that $14/day parking fee as a nice downpayment on the APs.

I also think an AP might not be a bad idea, how much are you paying for park tickets? Add 14 bucks for each day you think you will be parking at Disney and then see how close you are to the AP price.

Many places that you stay have shuttle or busing, check into that also.
I would consider the offsite hotels, which you can find for less then half of the onsite rooms.

I also think $14 is outragous for parking. If you are going to Disney and paying for an extended length ticket, there should be an offset for parking. All these additional cost do add up and at some point will affect the volume of people that can enjoy an extended stay Disney.

Purchasing a parking pass, just like a hopper option should be an option,

I would love while my dd is younger and dgs to go again. But at the cost of onsite, at $129 a night or more for just a bed, not even coffee pot, is out of reach. When I can get a suite, off site for $89 a night, I just have to add the parking, and decide which is the vacation I want.

BUT I also can find a room, with a fridge and coffee pot, micro wave for $50 a night.
Just as nice as a Value room.(depending on season and Specials)

you would only need to get one annual pass. And you can use that for various discounts throughout the parks as well as free dining.

Where is this hotel you're staying at??? Maybe there are some other options to look into. Are you spending all two weeks at disney?? Because the other parks also require a parking fee. Sea world has the best options for using public transportation.

and if you're going when there are special hard ticket events, you get a discount for that too. APs might be worth it. And makes it that more tempting to come back for that anniversary. And with an annual pass you'd get discounts on rooms too.

This is what Disney wants you to think...to entice you to stay on-site and save on the fee, plus use their buses which they believe are easier than driving your car.

Considering that most large arenas for concerts and sporting events charge $15-20 to park for just a few hours (I paid $18 to park at the Kennedy Center in DC) $14 is quite reasonable for a full day of parking.

My dilemma is that i am getting reduced military tickets...a 4 day hopper for $99 and we are buying two (8 hopper days) we are staying at summer bay resort condos, which was a gift for out honeymoon...they do offer shuttle buses, HOWEVER i do not like the idea of having to be on their schedule...what if i want to do hopping throughout the day and want to use my car instead buses...Disney for the first time in my life really let me down with their not having a discount on annual passes for military members

Oh? I wasn't aware Disney owed us anything.

If you're only going to be there for 8 days, then why do you need the 4-day AND 8-hopper day tickets? That's admission for 12 days....I'm confused.

Why not just buy 4 of the military 4-day hoppers at $99 and then you'll both have a total of 8 days, save a fortune on tickets and then have the money for parking?

Marketing, it is a down economy. Incentive to allow a budget trip, to compete with a beach vacation would be a smart idea for Disney. They are not the only place to vacation.

Nothing magical when they have their hand in your pocket before you even park the car.

That is why many of us on the forum look for the budget tips to make a Disney Vacation for our families. Disney owes us the best for our $$$$.
If not families will reduce the days they stay, stay offsite, go every few years.

I think that staying off site and using the transportation they offer you there is no more inconvientant then staying on site and waiting for two buses to get back to your room. Even onsite you are on the bus a fair amount of time.

Go and try the first day using the transportation. You may actually be so glad not to have to worry about the maze of road out, directions and weary bodies that riding their trans back to the condo is well worth the $14 in your pocket.

One day that you are going on errands or other activities drive the car for a change.
Just a thought

They do have a military discount on annual passes...I got mine at the ITT office at the Navy MWR for $358. You may want to check again because its a substantial discount

Still agree w/ other posters. If you stay onsite, free parking is a PERK. Why would Disney give a PERK to someone who's not going to stay ON property? What's the point of having these special priviledges if they're going to let offsite guests take part? Heck let's let offsite guests use the Disney buses. Let's even let them use the EMH's!!

$14 for parking is NO different than any other theme park. At our Six Flags, parking is even more expensive. And do they offer discount on parking, NOPE. Even if I'm a season pass holder, I still have to pay for parking unless I buy a season parking pass.

They certainly dont! however, i would just think that their appreciation of our service members would allow for us them and their families to have more saving to make it more affordable :) its just blowing off steam..I just see as i plan to spend 3,000 on my trip (in parks and eateries) that they would offer a wider array of discounts

MY thought is simply that if Disney wants to charge $14 dollars a day to use their pavement, that's fine...but i would think that they would consider that for people planing in being in the parks over 5 days should have parking privileges. no EMH or anything like that but we are spending JUST as much money in parks as on-sites guests
