Going in March and will be offsite - my nephew has had one hip replaced and the other is beginning to give him problems so it will probably be replaced in the future. Even though he can get around home without any assistance, Disney is going to be another thing. He is definitely not going to be doing all the walking. I was planning on renting him a scooter that will break down so we can get it in the van but when we get to the parking lots at the parks what do I do? We won't have a disability hang tag and if we get stuck in a far away parking area we won't be able to use the tram.

How can I get to the disability drop off area of the parking lot, unload and then circle back around and park the car? Or does anyone else have any other ideas?

You have several choices:

- he could apply for a temporary handicapped parking permit. Most states have the forms available online. He could download it, have his doctor fill out the physician part and then take or mail it to the appropriate office for that state.
In most cases, the process is pretty quick.

- if you want to do drop off, it works as you thought.
Let the CM at the parking lot booth (and each other other CM you come to) know that you want to do a drop off.
The drop off area is a designated area, but is not necessarily at the handicapped parking area. You would be directed to go there, drop him off and then circle back to park in regular parking.

- they save spots at the end of rows or closer to the entrance for people in his situation since the parking lot trams are not accessible. Let each parking lot CM know that you have an ECV and don't have a handicapped parking permit.
They may direct you to an area near or next to the handicapped parking area. Don't park in any spot with blue paint or signs that indicate it is handicapped parking unless you actually have a handicapped parking permit (the county does patrol and large fine if ticketed)

- if you are staying onsite, you can use Disney transportation. All buses have at least 2 tie down spots for securing mobility devices. Monorails and larger boats are also accessible.
