I will Be buying our AP online the one that includes parking my question is how will this work we will be arriving on Sunday morning will we have to pay for parking when we get there since we will not have the card yet or will the printed out pass work

if u buy it online and then i assume you have to print something.. well since you have the parking it will show on that peice of paper. just show it to the parking attendants! bascily, that is your pass till you get the plastic card one! so then just go to the turnstiles enter the park and then go to the pass processesing center, and you can go to either park now and do it--it doesn't just have to be at disneyland. they will take your photo and in less then 5 min you have your new AP's!!! so exciting!

When we bought our AP's last month, they asked us at the ticket window if we paid for parking that morning or not. We didn't, as we had parked in self-parking of the Grand, but I guess they would have refunded the money to us.

Also, could be that if you show your voucher to the parking attendant, they won't charge you, assuming here it is an attendant,

yeah that is what i mean. she has the piece of paper printed with the AP purchcase info, they should not charge you when they info is right on the paper. and that is also like your reciept till you get your actual pass..

and umm i have saved soo much money with my AP and having the parking you will truly appreciate it!

i don't know if they would of refunded you but maybe :0

Make sure you print the e-ticket, not just the email itself. The attendant at the parking lot/structure will scan it and give it back to you with your parking receipt. The person at the entrance will keep your self-printed page and give you a regular size ticket which you take to the processing center to trade for a plastic card with your picture on it.

Along these same lines, can you book discount rooms (on and off property) with an AP that you have bought but not activated?

You will have to pay for parking (cash or credit card). Take your parking pass with you to the park. Show the parking pass to the CM at the AP Processing Center and you will be refunded in cash.

As far as the AP goes, print the emailed pass. Take this paper directly to the entry turnstiles, you will be given a regular park ticket in exchange. Take the ticket given to you to the AP Processing Center, directly left at the end of Main Street before you reach Adventureland to exchange it for your permanent AP.

Hope all of that makes sense! :)

The parking attendant will still charge for the parking, as technically OP doesn't have an activated AP.

This is correct and exactly how to handle it.

Thank you all for the answer so i pay but will be refunded when i go get my permit ap from processing

IF you remember to bring your parking receipt with you into the Park to show it at the AP Processing Center (and your AP includes parking). :goodvibes

This is correct.

I know the eTicket used to say (and may stiill say) that you'll have to pay for parking the first time then request a refund but that doesn't match the actual experience of people who simply hand their eTicket to the parking attendant.

You can pay the attendant, then get a refund at the processing center (take your parking pass with you as proof of payment) but there's no reason to do this unless you get an inexperienced parking attendant who doesn't know what to do with the eTicket.

If this is true, it is a MAJOR change in procedure. It also seems very odd that the CMs would be taught to honor this as one could very easily go to the structure, show their eTicket, get free parking, NOT turn in their AP voucher that day for whatever reasons, and will have received free parking.

well maybe i got lucky i bough mine online. printed out the info ,showed them the paper when i went to park that had all the info and everything i needed to get my pass. and they let me park. :confused3

What scenario would have someone pay hundreds of bucks to get an AP eTicket with free parking then not convert it to a valid passport? What would people would do? Park in the parking structure, ride a loop on the tram, then go home? Or, instead of converting their eTicket to an AP, purchase a full price ticket for the park? The eTickets have unique codes. There's no reason not to give a one-shot free parking pass with the eTicket just like you get a one-shot conversion to a regular ticket at the gate.

You can't get an eTicket for an AP+parking without actually buying an AP+parking. Once you've bought it, you're going to use it. Once you've used it, it's not good for anything else.

I didn't say they don't use the convert it to an AP, I said, "that day." I can't tell you why people do things, I just know I've heard of people doing it to get free parking for that day.

Well i just printed of my tickets and on the bottom it say if your AP includes parking you have to pay when you park but please retain your receipt for a full refund

You can lead a horse to water etc. People come here to find out how Disney policies work in the real world and I've explained how this one works.

Being able to skip the payment/refund shuffle for parking is just another rarely encountered situation which is most certainly real. I've done it. Other people have done it. Despite what the eTicket says, you can do it too. I dare you to drive up to the parking attendant and hand him/her the eTicket. :) Double-dog dare.

There are a lot of little-known perks and "loopholes" at Disney and this is one of them.

probably the best thing to do is just do what they say on the paper! :thumbsup2the last thing you want is something to go wrong! :)

Well, you didn't double-dog-dare me, but I handed my printout to the parking attendant and he handed it back to me and told me I would have to pay and take my receipt to the AP center to get a refund, so while it may have worked for you, I think what we're saying is that you must have just gotten lucky with a CM that either didn't know the policy, or felt they'd be nice "just for you", but that's not how it works for a majority of the people. Honestly, you have to go to the AP center anyway to get the card. I handed them the receipt and they handed me $14. I was without that $14 for maybe 30 minutes of my life. It was not a big deal so to the OP, sure, I guess you could TRY to hand your printout to the CM at the garage and hope they don't charge you, but most likely they will, and it's no big deal.

I have no idea why jtown is taking this so personally!
