Parking two cars at camp site.

We travel in two mini vans every trip. This year they told us at the front desk that we could park both vans at the campsite since we were tent camping. This was great. We did not have to unpack every single thing. We could even sleep in the vans. Latter that day a security person came by and told us to move one of the vans. We did not like this but moved it to the front entrance. It was very hard to find a parking spot. We were a ways away from the reservation building.

The next day we took the golf cart to the van to get belongings out. We were chased by a security, telling us we could not take the golf cart to our car. This results to walking and carrying everything we needed or driving the other van to the front which meant more traffic on the road.

We questained security why others in our loop had 2 cars, loops with rvs had rv and a car. Also those new cars that look like inflated golf carts that are able to be driven on public roads were driven around like golf carts on the camp site. I told security that I felt it was stupid to make anyone leave a car up front when there was not enough parking anyways (at this point others had parked on the side of the road). I think many who park in this parking lot are visitors from other resorts going to Trails end or the BBQ show. There is not enough parking. What does it hurt to have two cars at a camp site?

Has anyone else had these problems?

Sorry about the confusion and the need to have your van moved. We have seen 2 vehicles parked at a site in addition to the RV and nothing happens and then we have seen security come and make the site occupants move the extra vehicle. No continuity.

Can only suggest that you get it in writting, a second parking pass and the name of the CM next time you check in if they say you can have 2 vans there.

I think the official rule is one car and one camping unit, since you were in tents you probably could have told them that you are using on of the vehicles for accomdations,

I think the reason for the car limit is otherwise people park on the grass and other non designated spaces that sometimes block traffic in the loop or make it impossible to back a 40 foot rig into a site.

I do wish that security was consistent on all matters, we too have seen many inconsistencies in other areas of enforcement and even selective enforcement of the rules.

You probably had a rental cart from the bike barn, they regulate those to death, had you had your own cart you could take in into the parking lot.

I agree about the selective enforcement. We were in the 1500 loop one time and our neighbors had 3 cars almost all the time and sometimes 4 cars at their site. Two of the cars were parked in the grass. But what really was bazaar was that security came and made the people across from this site move one of their cars to the front lot and they were parked on the driveway. While security was there I could see the owner arguing with the CM and pointing to the site with 3 cars and other sites with 2 cars but the CM still made them move their car and never went to any of the other sites. There was at least 5 sites in the 1500 loop with multiple cars and we only saw security take action against this one site. It made me mad and I was not even involved.

What about the overflow parking lot? Was it full too? We were there last week and it was wide open. Only a couple dozen cars in lot that holds maybe 100 cars or more??

The lot I'm talking about - take a left out FW then the 1st left again. You can pull right up to the concrete barriers and walk right through to the main lot. It's all of about 20'.

And come to think of it - at the cabins - A cabin in our loop didn't have 2 cars but 3 cars parked at it. All 3 were there at least overnight. Not that it really mattered to me but I found it odd. You can't have 2 cars but 3 must be OK

I think I know which lot you are referring to. the spot I parked in was adjacent. That lot was very full also. It was Memorial weekend so that may be why it was so full.

Our vans both have seats that convert to beds. That is where the kids will sleep next time.

Just my take on this...

Tent + car/van/truck... = 1 vehicle, therefore why not Tent + 2 vans

RV + car/truck/van... = 2 vehicles

One thing that might have helped you if you really were using one of the vans as a camping vehicle is to move it off of the driveway onto the sandy area and then put a canopy over it or in front of it.
