Parking structure opening earlier + park report

Folks, until recently the M&F parking structure would open at about 6:50 on days when the park opened at 8:00. Today, however, I arrived at the kiosk at about 6:40. A friend arrived at 6:00 and told me that it was even open as early as that. This is my first time at the park in a few weeks due to a lot of post-COVID fatigue so perhaps this is old news. But I have several friends that go often during the week and this was the first I’d heard of it. In my mind, it’s good news. I always hate approaching the structure feeder only to find that it’s closed and that I have to do a mile circle to get back to it.

I was among the first people in the park. However, once through the gate, at least 50 people ran to the rope for GE. I always hate when people run but when it reaches that level, CMs are virtually powerless to stop it. Despite that, we were the first in line for PP. But the attraction wasn’t yet open. I’ve noticed that a lot in recent weeks. It happened to some friends during the week last week and perhaps the last three Sundays that I was there.

Crowds were heavier than usual. I ascribe this to a cheer competition that was going on in Anaheim. That attracted a lot of young people and their families. Hopefully it’s less packed next weekend.

It was also nice to be able to ride the tram once again, especially at the end of the day. That saved me about a 1.5-mile round trip walk, which means a lot to me these days, since I tire easily after my recent battle with COVID. Fortunately, that seems to be improving gradually.

I did meh-K on Buzz. I broke 2M twice. But the first time the pic came through without a score and the second time I exceeded 2,907,000 by about 70,000 and my score reset. So technically, my highest score today was only about 1.7M.

I have maps, if anyone would like a set.

Some pics.

So glad that you were able to get back to DL and that you are continuing to feel better.
Thank you! It was great to be back. I'll have a much more accurate prognosis when I wake up tomorrow (morning, presumably). If I sleep until 1:00 or can't get out of bed whenever I awake, then the post-COVID fatigue will still be with me. But this week has been better in general. Both Monday and Tuesday I did relatively long walks and felt fine the following days. I only did four miles at DL today but coupled with the noise, crowds and other such stimuli, I may be in trouble come the morn. We'll see :-).

Thanks for the great pictures. I'm glad you're feeling better and could get to the parks! I would love to walk up to Peter Pan and see it that empty some time.

I've never even been on Buzz but your posts have convinced me that I need to try it :)

So glad you made it back but bummer about PeterPan. That’s always my first choice, too!

Love the photos, oh, especially the sweet treats, they look so yummy!

Sorry to hear that your recovery has been prolonged. It just goes to show how devastating COVID can be, especially since you are young and healthy.
I hope that soon you’ll be back to where you were and running around the park like you used to.

Again, thanks for great pictures! I look forward to getting back to the park and seeing it as empty as your photos.

Rope drop, rope drop, rope drop ;-).

By all means, please keep us all updated. Before I lived in LA (and would visit annually from Chicago), I kind of thought that BL was a goofball kids attraction. Perhaps it is but once I started to get good at it, it became an obsession :-).

Thank you! I feel incrementally better by the day. Not to be morbid or to overstate the case, but after being so sick, I've said to several friends that had I not been triple-vaxxed, I doubt I would have survived. It was the sickest I've ever been. You may recall that I lost 19 pounds in only six days. And I'm a thin guy! I was in excellent shape in high school and weigh the same as I did then. Well, I did. Now I'm about six pounds lighter than when I was 16. Still trying to get the weight back.

I hope that soon you’ll be back to where you were and running around the park like you used to.
Thanks again! I suspect that I'll be back to 100% within the next 2-3 weeks. Maybe then I'll start to take more pics :-).
