Just wondering if I can get my parking refunded after purchasing an AP? I will be waiting until I get to my first park to purchase my AP because I'll be upgrading my free GAD ticket. Since I won't have my AP upon arrival I will need to pay parking. Does anyone know if they will refund it at Guest Relations when I purchase my AP?

Yes, turn in your paid parking receipt to guest services when you purchase your AP and they will refund your parking fee.

Thank you!! But now I have another question... it's been a few years since we stayed off-site so I don't remember the details... When I get the parking ticket at the gate, don't I have to leave that in the car window? Am I supposed to take that ticket to Guest Relations or do they also give me a paper receipt? :confused3

Keep in mind that you can also go to DTD to activate your voucher without having to deal with the parking fee. I believe they are open late.

I don't think I can... I have a Give a Day voucher, not an AP voucher. I've heard that I have to turn in my voucher at Will Call at one of the four major parks for my free one day park ticket. Then I can go to Guest Relations inside the park to upgrade that ticket to either a multi-day ticket or AP. But thanks for the suggestion!

Won't work in this situation. Since the OP is buying the AP, and using the GAD voucher against the price, they will get an actual AP, not an AP voucher. They have to go to a park in order to turn in their GAD voucher, get that one day pass, enter the park and use that pass, then turn around and buy the AP, using the used one day pass against the cost. Convoluted? Yes. But, that's the way Disney says it has to be.

Yes, I missed that part. You are correct, the GAD ticket has to be activated then upgraded to the AP. They could however, just make a breakfast reservation at Cap. Grill or Cape May, and afterwards walk to international gateway guest relations window and pick up their GAD ticket, go through the gate, then back out and back to guest relations window and get their AP. That way they could do all at one time.

Hmmm....the lady at the ticket window in front of EPCOT issued my free birthday ticket last November and then I redeemed it immediately at the same window towards one of the annual passes. I did not have to go inside the park and find guest relations. I wouldn't think that the Give A Day voucher process would be much different. Turn in voucher for the one day ticket. Immediately apply that ticket towards an AP. No?

Interesting... We'll definitely do that if we can! From what I've read here on the DIS, you have to go to Will Call to redeem the voucher, then enter the park to activate the one day ticket, then upgrade it at any Guest Relations within 10 days. We'll be park hopping on our first day so we'll need to take care of the upgrade sometime that morning. But I'll certainly ask if I can do it all at once. :thumbsup2
