I know our DVC membership entitles us to free paring on Disney properties.
I would like to drive to the Polynesian Resort for Breakfast one morning and then depart there via monorail to the parks.

My question is, can I leave my car parked at the Poly all day, or any other resort for that matter?

DVC membership allows for free valet parking at DVC resorts only.

The Poly is one of the resorts where they give you a parking pass when you stop at the guard house...and they do write down your license plate number. The maximum amount of time I personally have been allowed on the pass is about 3½ hours. The pass goes on your dash.

Other resorts allow you to park as long as you wish with no pass required. I have self-parked at GF, TC, BC, and BW with no problem.

Except for valet parking, none of the WDW Disney resorts charge anyone to park at a resort.

If you are staying on site - at any WDW resort, including the DVC resorts, you are entitled to free parking at the theme parks.

Your DVC membership by itself does not entitle you to free parking at the theme parks.

The Swan & Dolphin Resorts are now charging for self parking in their lots. AFAIK, the Downtown Disney Resorts do not charge for self parking.

Best wishes -

DVC membership entitles us to free parking at the Theme Parks? Excellent, didn't realize that.

Only while staying on-site.

Just to clarify - as Carol and Diane noted, DVC membership does NOT give DVC members free parking at the Theme Parks. All WDW Resort guests will get a parking pass for their car and that pass allows free parking at Theme Parks- it has nothing to do with being a DVC member.

The same goes for parking at other resorts, all guests with the parking pass will be treated the same. DVC members do get free valet service at DVC resorts (BWV, BCV and VWL) regardless where they are staying (onsite or offsite)- so make sure you have your blue membership card.

maybe we "got away with something" that I didn't even know was wrong, but on our first trip Oct, 2003, we had breakfast at the Poly, valeted our car and when we went to claim it, the valet suggested we just take the bus/monorail and come back for our cars later. We PAID for the valet parking, but were apparently not expected to be gone in 3.5 hours.

I don't think there is any time limit for valet service- only if you use the self-park lot. The parking pass with the time limit is given at the gate for the resort and will allow for parking for that period of time, but valet service won't demand the same limitation.

Got it. If you have two vehicle for 1 Two Bedroom would you get 2 passes? Is there a problem with having 2 vehicles for one room?

No problem. Did this in December; had another couple staying with us who had their own rental car. Just asked for two passes at check-in.
