Parking passes?

Hello!

My Mom and I are heading to WDW in December and staying at the YC. We are flying and using ME. My Uncle and his wife are heading up as well, but staying off-site. They will be renting a car. I was hoping that they could come and visit us at the YC for some dinners, and also go to the parks with us. Perhaps they could drive us around! ;)

Is it possible for my Mom and I to get some sort of parking pass for them? Would it be valid at the YC and at the parks? I'm assuming this is possible since many WDW guests rent cars themselves!

Thank you!

well similar. I have friends that live in florida and they where going to come spend the day with us at the Boardwalk and to eat. I don't have a car so can I get them a pass to park for the day?

OK, I am going to get flamed, but..... I have gotten a parking pass and used it for my Dad's car when I didn't have a car. I don't feel the least bit guilty. It was ONE car for the room which was within the "expected" limits. He did not swim etc..... Since I was staying on sight even without the "pass" I could have gotten him into the parks for parking (show your room key. I have had to do this when the pass "flew" out of my convertible too!)

My Dad always comes up and just tells them he is here to see me and they wave him right in.... (He says they have checked to be sure I am really there a few times)

Yep, don't feel guilty. Since you won't have a car yourself, and the car your uncle is renting is your transportation, just use your parking pass on that vehicle. They may still have to show ID, but it will help.

However it is not a problem for them to come in and say they are visiting you without a parking pass.

I don't have a car when we're in WDW but I have friends that come to visit or pick us up to go out and to get through the gate they tell the guard they are here to pick up a visitor and they aren't parking and they usually don't have a problem.

Since you are entitled to one parking pass per car and since I don't have one I see no harm in letting the person who is driving me to use the pass. After all, the resort guest (me) is in the vehicle.:)

Upon checking in you will be asked if you have a car (rental or otherwise), say yes, since you will be in this car being driven around, it's essentially true. You will receive a parking pass. Keep the pass with you. Whatever car you're in just pop it in the front window for free parking.
I see nothing wrong with this since it's the same as someone having a car and then picking up some family/friends members somewhere else that don't have a car. You're a resort member, you're in the car.

Have a wonderful trip

Thank you! They won't be going anywhere Disney without us, so it is true that the parking pass won't be anywhere I, the official resort guest, won't be! Thanks again! :goodvibes

I remember when returning to the Contemporary on December 31, 2005 there was a long wait because a lot of cars were being turned away who were not staying there and ones with no ADR's. When we got up there the security guard asked to see my Dad's KTTW card and photo ID. She said they were trying to match his name to his KTTW card because a lot of guests were getting extra parking passes and giving them to family or friends. So if those guests with the extra passes had no KTTW cards they would be turned away. Basically that is the only time when the parking pass would not automatically get you into a Resort and that was a very smart idea that the Contemporary did.

Thanks! I'll remember to have my KTTW card with me at all times when driving! :thumbsup2

You're welcome and it's good to have your KTTW card with you because on my families past few trips when returning to WDW the security guards at the Contemporary have asked to see it. If we go to the line where we insert our cards and the arm barrier goes up, then we don't have that problem. What I said earlier about what they did on New Years Eve with checking your photo id, chances are they won't be doing anything like that when your there and they only do it on the major holidays like New Years Eve and etc.

Always have your KTTW card with you not only to verify your a guest but it's the only way you'll get an EMH wristband and if your park ticket is also included on your KTTW card it's the only way to get a fastpass:goodvibes

Does anyone know whether or not someone staying at a Disney Resort (Contemporary) has to pay for parking at Animal Kingdom and MGM. I know that you don't have to pay at the resort b/c you're staying there, but is it free at the other parks? Thanks! :cutie:

Welcome to the DIS Boards!

If you are a Guest at ANY Disney resort, parking is free at all 4 theme parks (Magic Kingdom, Epcot, MGM, and Animal Kingdom) for the duration of your stay.

When you check in, you will be given a parking pass to put in your windshield. This will get you into both your resort and the theme parks free.

And just in case you were wondering, parking at Downtown Disney is free for everybody.

The reason they are so harsh with people parking at the CR is because people go there and park and walk over to MK. It is not like that anywhere else on property.

Thanks so much, WillCAD...that is a huge help. I thought that it was free, but I didn't want to find out the hard way. Thanks again! :)

It is like that at the Yacht and Beach and Boardwalk and they even have signs as you enter the property that says, They do not provide parking for park access.

I agree, While they always look for the pass etc at the other resorts I have never had to show them my key to the world. CR has the worst problem with folks trying to park for MK and it's not to avoid the fee it's just because the location is great..

They do sometimes ask for photo ID, but I have wondered what the HECK they think that proves...:rotfl: First I could have a different last name and still be in the room on the pass and second so I have a DL. That does not prove who ANY of those other folks in the car are....:rotfl: (One Security CM actually told me it was for my protection? HUH??? HOW??? :rotfl2: )

Let me try to explain again what they meant when they asked for photo ID that time on New Years Eve. The security guard told us there were some guests using extra Contemporary parking passes from guests already staying there, so they thought with the pass they could park with no problems. However since they are not guests of the Contemporary they would have no KTTW card. So they used the name on the photo ID to match to the name on the KTTW card. If they had no KTTW card they would not be allowed to park. They don't do that everyday of the year, it's only done on the major holidays.
