We are currently staying at the Desert Inn and Suites. It dawned on us today that we are planning on staying at the parks after our hotel check out time. Where would be the best place to move our car to, assuming we need to move it? I'm assuming DI&S won't let us keep it here for the afternoon. We will then be leaving to drive down to San Diego. Thanks.

Are there two parking areas? This is something I haven't looked into at all. I only see the buses for the Toy Story Lot, and I haven't seen a large parking garage anywhere around.

Let me look up directions to the parking structure from Desert Inn...be right back! :)

ETA: Ok, you're at the Desert Inn and Suites, located at 1600 Harbor Blvd., yes?

As you exit the parking lot, turn RIGHT on Harbor (get into the left lane). Go up to Ball Rd (want to say it's about half a mile?). Turn LEFT on Ball Rd. Get in the left turn lane so that you can turn LEFT at Disneyland Drive, which will be in about 1/4 mile (maybe less?) after you've turned onto Ball. Once you have turned LEFT on Disneyland Drive, you are on DLR property, and you want to pay attention to the signage so you know which lane to stay in to park in the structure. Parking will run you $15.

Hope that helps!

As Mugglemama said, you can park in M&F. Or, you mentioned the Toy Story lot where the buses come out of. Those buses are filled with people who are parking their cars at the Toy Story lot. It is also $15.

Don't assume. I would ask your hotel (call the front desk, not a 800 number) if you can keep the car there. This is obviously a very common question -- when I asked about this months ago there were quite a few hotels that let cars stay. The HOJO let us keep our car there the day we check out.

Ditto! A lot of the hotels will allow you to stay through the afternoon. The Sheraton Park on Harbor was one so definitely call and ask.

We just stayed at the DI&S about a month ago. I think the parking pass expired at 2pm on the day of departure, so that may not work for your plans. I'm guessing that, with their limited parking, they want guests who are leaving to remove their cars by the time the new guests come to check in between 3-4 pm.

Call to confirm, but that is what I remember.

Ask the hotel. If they'll let you stay, not only is it WAAAY more convenient than the Disney lots, but a lot cheaper, too--even if they charge you an extra day. :thumbsup2

I haven't stayed at the DI itself. But from my experience it seems that you can park until midnight on check out day is really common along Harbor. I wouldn't worry about having to move your car.

We've always been able to leave our car in the hotel's lot after we check out. Even at the Best Western Park Place Inn which has a very small lot, they didn't charge us extra either. I suggest asking the hotel before you panic, you may be happily surprised. :)

When we stayed at CCI on Veteren's Day weekend they told us we could only park there until 3pm on check-out day because they were fully booked. So it not only depends on the hotel but also how busy they are.

No wonder these lots are so crowded ;) They have twice the number of cars as they do guests/rooms.

We were allowed to stay in the lot at CCI as long as we wanted too. But I don't think the hotel was fully booked the day we checked out. So yes, you are correct regarding the hotel and how busy they are. :) We've always asked if we could stay parked and we've been happily surprised by the answers every time.

Yup, and twice the number of rooms as parking spots for some of them. Parking on Harbor is really sucky....lol
