Parking for visiting the Boardwalk?

Is there a parking lot available for people to park in to just visit the actual boardwalk? I want to be able to have my mom see it but due to some physical issues I would like her not to have to walk too far.

Thanks, Colleen

I believe there is parking for guests at the Boardwalk (mostly, if memory serves, across the street).

If it were me with that situation, I would use the valet parking. It does cost (maybe $6?), but for the ease of pulling right up to the door of the hotel, it's well worth it. You then could walk through a bit of the lobby (very short) and out on to the Boardwalk area itself.

So if I get this correct there is just one lot that is shared by people who are staying at the Boardwalk Hotel and by people who want to 'visit the boardwalk' and see whats there.

Is there a walkway from the parking lot directly to the boardwalk or do you have to walk through the hotel to get to the boardwalk?

actually, dpending on how crowded they are...

the security guard will direct you to a couple of lots ......if you are staying it might be different than the one for people visiting...

we have had times they have told us where to park and other times....where they just let us find the best parking lot......which is the one to the right as you go in....just across from the BWI convention centre

IMHO, all of the parking that may or may not be available to non-hotel guests is quite a distance from the Boardwalk itself. Even if you were able to park in the closest lot (which has been reserved for hotel guests lately), it will still be more walking than you may want your Mom to do. I think the suggestion to valet park is a good one, and I'd be willing to bet you will find it well worth the $6 plus tip to take advantage of it. If your Mother has difficulty with stairs, be sure to ask someone for directions to the elevators once you arrive. (After entering the hotel lobby, you go to your left, past the check in desk and gift shop). It's only a few steps more, and will be easier than trying to navigate the stairs.

Enjoy your trip!

Thank you all so much for your suggestions! We will be staying at the GF and will valet park there so from what I have read here we should be able to valet at other resorts with our pass from the GF.

I just was never really sure if there was a separate lot for just the boardwalk visitors...if there were I would park there and not take up hotel parking space.

Valet it is!

Thanks again, only 57 days to go!.

It's a little bit of a walk from the parking lot at the Boardwalk and all uphill. I would valet park for your Mom, it's worth the price. The Boardwalk is very close to where you drop your car off to valet park. There is a staircase right there to get to the Boardwalk or else you can cut through the lobby and down a different staircase.

Greetings,
My wife and I have wanted to visit the Boardwalk but were frustrated trying to figure out where we could park. One afternoon we walked up to the Information Kiosk at Downtown Disney and asked where we could park at the Boardwalk. She suggested we take the Disney bus that picked up near Planet Hollywood. We took her advice and parked our rental car for free at the Downtown Disney lot and caught one of the buses over to the Boardwalk. It worked out great and we will do this again when we return next year. Since you are staying onsite there is probably a bus that runs directly from your hotel to the Boardwalk. It's worth checking out. Have fun with your planning.

Kevin ;)

If your Mom has a 'disabled' sticker, there is no charge for valet parking at boardwalk, other than gratuities.

The only WDW resort that runs a bus directly to the Boardwalk is Coronado Springs.

Disney considers Boardwalk a destination in and of itself. No one should feel guilty for parking there if they are visiting the Boardwalk, especially if they use the lot across the street or the valet service.

Before the closer "self-park" lot was reserved for BWI & BWV hotel guests, many people used that lot to avoid paying the parking fee at EPCOT. The result was the hotel guests often had to park in the overflow lot across the street, which is quite a distance (as much as one half mile) from the rooms. Obviously, those hotel guests were NOT pleased, especially when the closer lot emptied out right after Illuminations. People should feel free to park wherever the entrance guard directs them and lately, if you are not a BWV/BWI hotel guest, that is in the overflow lot across the street. JMHO. YMMV

Thanks for the direct bus suggestion but as CarolMN says there is no direct bus from the GF.

I found my Transportation map and if we want to take : H+L+F we can get there on the bus!

My poor mom will end up in Ohio if she tries to follow the Transportation map directions! LOL

Thank you again for all your responses. You guys are great!

Colleen
