Parking for Rope Drop?

How can one park soon enough and which Disneyland lot to be able to get there in time to rope drop in present times? I often get to Mickey and friends on vacation and it is not yet open.

Mickey and Friends opens an hour ahead of park open. That is plenty of time to get to the gates for rope drop.

I must seriously have had bad luck before. I know one time I messed up and kept trying Pixar. Facepalm
I’m not sure if the Pixar entrance has been open since the parks reopened. Every time I’ve parked in Pixar since reopening it’s been a bridge cross from inside M&F.

It has been open at least sporadically- we went in that way twice in either Nov or Dec. The first time, we discovered they aren't parking on the ground level at all (the only handicap spaces on the Pixar side). The last few times we tried, it wasn't open. They do seem to be using at least some levels for VIP parking.

They route cars from M&F over to the Pixar side in the first hours after opening.

I'm trying to remember when we went. I know it wasn't at opening, but pretty sure it was before noon. We were planning on taking the bridge to DTD so wanted to park on Pixar side. In the before times, we always went in the Pixar entrance so decided to try that.

When I showed my handicap placard, they tried to send us back over to Chip & Dale. We didn't want to park there, so proceeded up to the roof & when we asked to go further forward to get closer to the elevator, they tried to send us to the M&F elevators. They seemed confused when we said we wanted to take the bridge. It all worked out, but was definitely a bit confusing.

Another time, we went in M&F and when we tried to get to the Pixar side, it had signs saying VIP only. 🙃

The front area in the Pixar side is usually preferred parking.

From experience, the entrance roadway off of Disneyland Dr. into the Mickey & Friends entrance lanes, opens even earlier. You can be one of the first in line at the booths for when they start the parking that hour prior.

Yeah, we saw signs indicating that on one of our visits. But other times we've been able to go pretty close to the Pixar elevators. I find the lack of consistency frustrating.

Yea lord knows they get confused why we'd want to take the bridge.

If you show up before Disney parking areas open you can always park at Gardenwalk and walk over to Harbor side entrance.

Other non-Disney hotel guests will be coming from that side.
