This weekend I stayed at ASMu because it was a spur of the moment trip. DD wanted to go to the Boardwalk to show it to a friend that was with us. Pull up to the shack and the guard told us we could either pay for valet or park at Downtown Disney and take the bus back.

Pull up to valet and it was a mad house. The attendant finally got to us and said they were only taking cars with a disabled permit and turning everyone else away. Luckily I had the permit so they parked the car.

NEVER seen that happen before. It wasn't even late. Maybe 5pm. Don't know if it was the food and wine or what. Hope this is not a thing of the future when I want to visit my home away from home while staying at another resort.

On a side note, we had a real nice trip. I took the girls to Halloween Horror nights and it was a blast. They were magnets for the chainsaw guys. We also had a great time at Yeehaw Bob's show. What fun.

On a second side note, DD got her Driver's License today. Even volunteered tonight to go to Publix to get groceries.

They are more strict during food & wine, especially on weekends. Too many people want to park there to go to Epcot. It must have been really bad for valet to be full.

Thank goodness nothing more annoying than staying there at BW and not being able to park your car.

In addition, there was a HUGE IT convention at the swolpin, as well as at least 2 others we saw at the BW itselfM the good news is that there was ample parking in the main lot for guests staying there - we love that they are so strict during the festival now.
Side note; sooooo sad that I am writing this in MCO, waiting for our flight home

Okay, this is going to sound strange but we were at Bob's show on Saturday night. Did you happen to be there that night in particular? If so, hey there! I'm from wherever you're from! ;)

And congrats to your daughter on her driver's license!

I agree Food and Wine must have been a factor....but whenever I cannot stay at BWV and want to visit, I usually tell them I have reservations at Flying Fish Cafe and I'm in the guest parking lot. Must have been a LOT going on!!

Yep, this is standard during F&W. We are here now. We came in last Saturday and will be here until the 29th. On the weekends the parking is doubled guarded. If you get through the kiosk, you then have to show your pass and room ID a second time to enter the BW guest lot. This seems to be in effect starting Friday morning until last Sunday. There is also a guard standing at the entrance for the lot behind the Hess also checking everyone trying to use that lot too. Also, please note -- those familiar with the lot near the tennis court, that is also closed during the weekend. I think they are using that space for valet. We can see that lot from our room here on the 3rd floor and can see when the poles are up or down. Strangely some mornings they are up and then down, then up. We've been afraid to park there even though it's close to our room, but they keep closing it at random. We love that they are strict over the weekends, as this is our home and he hate having to drive around the parking lot looking for a space on the weekends with a load of groceries. There is still a HUGE IT group over at Swan, but using the conference facilities here and BCV -- Gartner is the name. Plus the golf event starts today. It's been great not having to worry about the parking here at BW!

I have to agree with previous posters about parking at BWV.It was actually nice to be able to find parking for a change didn't have to lug my groceries a mile carried my carry-on luggage to the car and there were ample spaces. On a last note whenwe are not staying at the boardwalk I park behind Hess so Be guests can park:confused3

I stayed at BWV before during food and wine but not since the free DVC valet stopped. Never saw it his bad. As others posted, a lot going around that weekend. I am also glad they are strict with non-guest parking but not even able to pay for valet astounded me. Imagine, Disney not able to take money from guests.

Yep, we were there that Saturday. They were the "two big kids from Florida." If you did not see them, I am sure you heard them. They were very enthusiastic singers and more than a little off key.

Here they are with Bob. Mine is on the right wearing an eye patch.

Haven't started a trip report yet but will. I usually post here but since it is not DVC related I guess I will have to do it on the regular TR board. If you are interested, look for a "Nuts" TR over there.

Even that picture makes it look like everyone was having a good time. What building did you end up in at ASM? We stayed there once, and were in one of the Hoops buildings.

they parked us in staff parking last year when we got there first day for food n wine at boardwalk. not too far of a walk. parking was always abused at boardwalk though. My dad was an employee and showed us all the parking places we should park at without getting in trouble.

In case you didn't see it, a new thread is going on updating the situation there. Not good. The thread is http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2820549
