Is there a charge for parking at the resorts for dining reservations?

No, you don't have to pay, but parking time is limited. You stop at the guard kiosk, tell them you have reservations...if it's a busy time of year, they will check your name off a list. Usually they will give you a 3 hour parking permit to put in your window & direct you to the appropriate parking lot. The monorail resorts are pretty particular about the 3 hour limit, and will tow cars left in the lots longer. We saw that happening at the Contemporary when we stayed there last January (even during a very slow time of year they were towing at Contemporary.)

I have never had an issue at the contemporary parking to eat at CM and then going over to watch the fireworks via monorail and back.

I always valet park at GF, the walk from parking can be a really long journey. OP, plan at least 10 minutes to walk if regular parking at GF during the busy dining season.

We just parked last week at Contemporary for Chef Mickey.
No problem, just told the CM at the gate we have breakfast at Chef Mickey.
We left the car there after breakfast and took the monorail to MK after we ate.

As others have said, there is no charge for parking (unless you valet park your car). However, during busier times, you will be given a 3-hour parking pass for your dining time (and shopping, etc.). Unless you are a guest of said resort, you are not supposed to leave your car at that resort and use the transportation to get to the parks. I know some people do it. Just be aware that your car CAN be towed and we've seen it happen at the Poly and the Contemporary.

Thanks everyone for the info and advice, this will be our first trip using a car!

I agree that the Grand Floridian self-parking is a pain simply because you drive through the guard gate and around the resort, through an exit...and across a street to get to the self-park lot.

I would rather park at the TTC and take the resort monorail than self-park at the GF.
