Parking fees

As both pics are of the side away from the bus stops, they don't suprise me. People don't want to park there, they want to park by the shops. Did you take any pics of that parking lot?

:rotfl2::lmao: I knew it!:laughing::rotfl2:

@OP if you have a dining reservation you can park at the resort, you don't have to take the monorail. Just be sure that you don't leave the resort to go to the bathroom or anything or you might be breaking the rules :rotfl2:

On a serious note, it might be a good idea to print off your reservation to take with you because you might be asked for it at the entrance to the resort. That way you have it to show the security at the entrance and you can leave it on show in the car so if they are doing any parking checks they know you're there for dinner.

OK, I visited Magic Kingdom today (in the rain) and had a nice time taking photos. My curiosity got me and I stopped by Downtown Disney first, and I thought I'd share what I found in the parking lot.

Good Lord! How much longer until Disney is forced to start charging for parking there?

Monday, after Thanksgiving, mid to late afternoon when that rain came in, and in the rain. The pic of that area of parking is not the norm.

Are you renting a car or driving down? I can't imagine going to Disney, and staying offsite. I wouldn't go till I saved up enough to stay onsite. But that's just me! The cost of a rental car and the daily parking can sometimes make the difference!:thumbsup2

We're renting a car at the airport. Its actually going to be MUCH cheaper to stay off the resort. With Bookit.com we a package for 10 days - got airfare (from Montreal), hotel, rental car, and 5 day Disney passes for $800 per person tax in. When I tried looking at staying on the Disney property, it was over $1,000 without airfare, so it does make a big difference. Plus we're doing Universal for 2 days, so a rental car is great. Eventually in the future I would like to stay on the Disney property, but for now its cheaper to stay off site!

Just park at Downtown Disney and take the free shuttle busses.

Pardon me for not driving to EVERY parking lot in Downtown Disney.

Neither is a full lot the norm.

Jesus, I drive out of my way to check out the raging crowded parking lot that everyone talks about and now all they do is whine about my effort.

As I said, no good deed ever goes unpunished. Go get some cheese.

Those parking lot pictures are not representative of the entire DTD parking lot. It seems to me you chose to take pictures of the area that support your argument and conveniently not include pictures of the areas that don't. This end of the DTD has a movie theatre, DisneyQuest, and Cirque, and not much else. The end that most people are talking about has World of Disney, Once Upon a Toy, the Lego Store, Rainforest Cafe, T-Rex, and Ghirardelli among others--all immensely popular. Parking down there is a challenge anytime I go, and pardon me for not wanting to walk a half-mile or more to my car if I can avoid it.

Where you took your pics, sure. A full lot is fairly normal at the other end. :thumbsup2

I'm confused--whose whining here?

For what it's worth, we always park in the area in front of the old Pleasure Island and never have trouble finding parking there. It's not right in front of the shops but it doesn't hurt us to walk a little ways.

I tell you what. It's all about you. Why don't you tell me EXACTLY where you want me to go, and EXACTLY what time you want me to go there, just to take a picture to bring back to the forum. Would that make you happy, or would you still find some excuse to complain?

I was on my way to the Magic Kingdom, not Downtown Disney. I got the idea of pulling off the road to check it out and take a photo to bring back here.

In the words of Steve Martin, Excuuuuuuuuuuusse Meeeeee!!!

I had no idea I was part of a plot.

Whatev. Buh-bye now.

This is one those to each his own but to stay on site with the same amenities we get off site we have to put off three trips off site.

We drive (17 hours) so have our own car and the place we stay at, that's about a half mile off site, includes 2 queen beds, a fold out couch, two real rooms and a complete full not american breakfast. Any thing onsite would cost at least 3 times more.

We go to WDW for the parks not to sleep. We also only do CS so dining plan even the QS one really doesn't help us.

Oh wait this thread is about parking fees. The value of the breakfast (4 adults x maybe $6) more than makes up for the parking fee.

First off, let me say just how much I appreciate that you took time off from your busy schedule to take a picture of a parking lot. Now with that said, I have to agree that that end of the parking lot is not the area that is coming into question. It's the other end. That is the one that everyone tries to get into whether to shop or to "hitch" a ride to the parks.

Unless one is going to Cirque it is what seems like a million miles from there to the retail part of DTD and therefore not a desirable place to park for either and is always empty for the most part. It has never been a question of enough parking places, it is a question of desirable parking places. If I had a retail store in DtD I would be livid about fee dodgers taking up prime retail parking. That is why Disney cares, but like it has been said over and over it is not a big enough problem for Disney to set out written rules over. It only matters to those that are looking for a place, close to the shops, to park. And who cares about them really?

Well, at least someone thanked me for the effort. I was truly shocked by the bitterness of the comments from a couple of pics. Silly me. I got off at the Downtown Disney exit, entered a parking lot that said it was for Downtown Disney - who knew that I wasn't in Downtown Disney?

I'll probably go back and check again, but I'm hesitant to post more pictures. After all, someone could complain about the weather or time of day again.

Gosh, if I spent my time worrying about who parks where to go to to what and whether or not I agree with that and feel they should park somewhere else I really wouldn't have much time for anything else.

Let Disney worry about it.

Not to jump on the band wagon but I think you were a little out of focus and the composure could be better. Your picture just doesn't say "Hey free parking over here".

Sorry. ;):rotfl::dance3:*

* Is this enough smileys to show I'm kidding. :thumbsup2
