With the new parking fees, and the addition of valet fees to DVC members, how long do you think it may take Disney before they charge everyone to park at the theme parks or your resort? I mean it could happen!!!!!!

I'm actually surprised they don't charge since the S/D do. Universal charges you to self park or valet park at all of their hotels.

Have you been to downtown/Fisherman's Wharf area of San Francisco lately? $30-35/DAY to park. Even as a hotel guest.
...just sayin'...

The day they start charging resort guests to park at their own resort is the day I start having my roommates drop me off and pick me up. I can see charging for valet, and I could even see (although I don't think it's necessarily right) charging if you are parking at a resort you are not a guest of - but I do not stay in a hotel that charges for self parking (unless someone else is paying for it ;)). That's what turned me off toward trying out the new Waldorf at Bonnet Creek - the $12 per day self parking fee.

They are getting ridiculous lately so nothing would surprise me. They are charging more and more for just about everything and you are not getting any more for your money. Heck in some cases you are actually getting less. They charge enough for those rooms without charging for parking on top of it. Heck to go a step further they charge enough for their theme park tickets without charging at all for parking. Disney is going to find that those families that can save to go now can not afford them at all in the future. It is hard enough for many people as it is without these extra expenses they keep adding. They are plain and simple just greedy. I understand they have a business to run and they have to make money but come on they are nickle and diming everything to death.

Also, how long will it before ME is not "free"?

If they have their way it will not be long I am sure. If they keep up the price increases we will go elsewhere for our vacations. At least now I can say I got to go before they price themselves too far out of our price range again. For many years they were out of our price range and we never thought we would be able to afford to go. Now they are on their way back up to being out again. Oh well their are a lot of other places out there to visit.

If it was not for the military ticket special we would not have gone as much as we did this year. It is only a matter of time before they start to charge for parking. We were in Atlanta three weeks ago and we were charged $12 a night to park. Anytime that I book a room now I just expect it kind of like the "resort fee" Like a previous post mentioned, I realize that it is a business and they are in business to make money. But there is going to come a time where we are going to have to look to vacations somewhere else.

Also, how long will it before ME is not "free"?

If they start to charge for ME, I would think more people will consider renting cars and go off property for meals, shopping, etc. I know I would.

I can tell you this - I've stayed at Resorts all over North America from Las Vegas to NYC and LA.. and very few hotels let you park for free anymore. Sure... some motels but dang few hotels in resort or resort destinations..

So I really appreciate that Disney does that. And frankly, as long as they do, it's another thing to tip the scales in favor of me staying on-site.. And I bet there are lots more like me..

It will not be long before they start charging you to park your own car.

If they could figure out a way to charge you for schlepping your own crap to your room, they'd do that, too.

Disney is in the business to make money and a lot of it. If they think they can charge customers for something they are going to do it.

Parking in general is ridiculous. That is money maker. If you can get enough cash to buy a piece of property and turn it into a parking lot you could afford Disney and all the other materials we want!

I wish I could do that here. The oceanfront is prime for making money off of parking. Buy up an old hotel, tear it down and you have an instant lot. Hand over fist.....

I just got back from Baltimore (inner harbor.) $31 a day for valet, $15 a day for a garage two blocks away. We were lucky and parked at a relatives house about 15 miles away and got them to pick us up and take us back to the car the morning we were leaving. We walked where we needed to go...So no car needed!

I think that one of the reasons that Disney is charging more is to keep people from using their cars. They want people to stay onsite and spend all their money at Disney. I would hope that they have the sense to realize that if they start charging resort guests for parking (or for ME) they will have less of an incentive to stay on-site.

I am sure that I read somewhere that Disney has only rented the ME space from MCO untill 2012, if thats true then I am sure when that date rolls around there will be fee's involved if they continue to have this available. The plan is great, get everyone used to this great free service, then start charging for it. Whether I like it or not you can't blame WDW for doing this.

I am not an advocate for Disney raising prices. In fact that is one of the reasons I haven't been able to take my family more often is because it has taken me almost 6 years to save for this trip. However with the cost of things rising (employees, insurance, equipment, paper products, food supplies, etc) and the fact that they didn't raise their ticket prices too much, I believe that they think they needed to raise the prices somewhere. We all know that Disney parks are completely self-sufficient and that they make lots and lots of money. What we do not know is what it costs to actually run the place??

I have noticed that everything has gone up quite a bit since July. I also realize that minimum wage increased at that time too. The saddest part of this is that most empolyees did not get a raise and in fact are thankful to even have a job. Do I wish that Disney was not going up on their prices? Yes, but I also understand and I will be one of the families left behind because I will not be able to afford something for my family that my parents afforded for theirs every year.

On a side not - Disneyland's parking is included in their hotel stay. At least it was last year.

How about making parking an addon for you the tickets.
1 day ticket + parking add $14
2 day ticket + parking add $27
...
10 day ticket + parking add $100

You would get a voucher for each day for parking that you turn in at the toll booths.
