Saturday Universal played "me too" and increased parking to $14, to match Disney.

makes the prefered or premium annual pass look better and better:cool2:

Makes me even more happy to have my season pass! That is simply to high for parking.

Did they raise their night rate also?

Still $3, but now it doesn't kick in until 8:00, rather than 6:00. So, effectively, if you want to see a movie or eat at CityWalk in the early evening (when both parks are already closed) parking will cost more than your movie ticket or possibly even your meal.

I don't pay for parking but if I did that's the kind of move that would send me right over to DTD and their free parking. I wouldn't care if the dinner cost twice as much, it's the principle of the thing.

I think this could seriously affect the amount of business they get at Citywalk. A carload of young people going out for the evening would probably drop a lot of money anyways on food and drinks and wouldn't mind coughing up an extra $3 each, but probably a lot of locals go to Citywalk after work and all meet up there arriving by different vehicles - can you see them each coughing up $14 each just to park and meet their friends?

As for families ... speaking personally, this past summer if it had been $12 or $14 when we came to the parks or Citywalk for a couple of hours in the evening after a day at the beach/mall/Seaworld, we probably would have skipped it and just gone to the hotel to swim and veg out.

I wonder what the non-Universal-owned businesses think about this price increase. Do they get a slice of the parking garage money, thus somewhat making up for any loss of business, or do they have to grin and bear it?

Is that just for HHN or for all the time now?

Very good point, every year they do switch the parking thing around. When the after 6 parking was free, it wasn't during HHN until later... hmmm you might have something there....

Oh I see, they are only shafting the people who come in for HHN. I feel a lot better now

It is 3.00 after six on non hhn nights and 3.00 after eight on hhn nights.

Except that the sign still said "after 8" last night (Tuesday), a non-HHN night. Admittedly I have an AP, didn't pay, but the impression I got was that they were charging $14 at 7:30.
