Is there a charge for parking at onsite hotels?

Do they charge an extra resort fee (in addition to the room rate)?

Thanks!

Unless things have changed recently (and I'm sure someone else will let us know), there is no resort fee, but there is a $12 per day parking fee for valet or self-park.

Basically, there is 12.5% tax on the room rate as well as parking. It just went up to $12 per day for self-park. Who knows what valet is now?!

That brings to mind another question. We're thinking about getting a room for one night just for the use of the keys for two days. We'll actually have a condo, so we may or may not use the room.

Since we'll only have the room for one night, will they charge us $12 total, or will it be more than that since we'll actually be there two whole days (just one night)?

Also, do they put it on your bill, or do you actually pay in the parking lot (at a booth or something)?

One more question about the keys, there will be four of us. Do they put our names on the keys (so I have to make sure everybody has their "own" key), or are all of the keys just assigned to the room (so I don't have to keep them straight)?

Thanks!

You pay the parking for each nights stay. The charge will be on your bill. Each person will have their own key, with their name on the key.

you can just show the TM 4 keys as your party is at the EP entrance....they will wave you thru. They probably won't stop each person and thoroughly inspect each key card.....you can hold them in a bunch....(My DBIL does that for his group of 5, 8 when in-laws come along :teeth: )

I might just get a little pouch or something and keep them all in it, so I don't have to worry about anybody losing their key (don't they have room charge capabilities on them?).

So, we can get there early on the first day, get our keys, and go to the parks (I wonder if they would think it was strange if I checked in without luggage? :rotfl2: )?

Then we can stay as late as we want the next day and just come back to the hotel parking lot to get our car when the parks close on the second day?

Thanks!

I've always been asked at check-in if I want charging capabilities. You can choose not to have it if you wish.

Nah, they won't think it's strange if you check-in without luggage. I always leave my luggage in the car until my room is actually available, I've never had them hold my luggage for me. For all they know, I'm there without any luggage at all. They never ask where my bags are. :)

Yes, you can stay as late as you'd like on the second day and go back to the hotel parking lot to get your car when you're ready to head back to the condo. There's a "booth" at the exit/entrance of the parking lot. You use your room key to open the gate. Although, I've never had to use my key to open it...the person working at the booth always spots the key in my hand and opens the gate for me. :)

Thanks for the info! If we decide to stay (DD and I might stay and let DH and her BF go back to the condo), leaving the overnight bag in the car would be my preference too.

Occasionally, they will scan each card right before you enter the attraction with a card reader - happened a few times when we were there 8/23 -8/25. I recall it happening at MIB (not every time we went on it, which was a lot) and Earthquake (did that once). If they do that, then the scheme above will not work and some people will be embarrassed and sent to the end of the standby line. Saw it happen at MIB ...

Not sure how we got from parking and hotel tax to front of the line - no sorry - Unlimited Express Pass - BUT

If you read the post this is not what was asked. In scenario stated each person will have their own room key. At each UEP line you will be asked to show the number of room keys that equals the number of people. You may be asked more than once like in MIB where there opportunities for non UEP to get on the UEP line. No one will be embarassed if you follow proper protocol.

But how did we get here? started out so nice about parking fees. Oh well.

Oops, I misread post #6 and thought it suggested holding 5 cards in a bunch to admit 8 people. Sorry.

But it is true that sometimes they not only ask to see your card, they swipe them through a card reader. I don't know if that's to get a more accurate count of actual FOTL use or to discourage people from standing in the Express line who really don't have the passes.

Thanks! We will have four people registered in the room and four people in our group (me, DH, DD, and her BF). As I said, we may or may not stay in the room, but we will be paying for all of them ($159 plus $20 each extra for the two "kids" 19 and 23).

We definitely weren't trying to run a scam...

we know you're not trying to "scam" anyone...but, unfortunately, there are those that DO!! :sad2: You will love having your FOTL...and, even if you DON'T plan on staying in the room....at least go and check it out.... :thumbsup2 (use the potty if ya have too :teeth: )...so you can at least check out the hotel & room!

I agree! And check out the pool, at least if you're "staying" at the Hard Rock (the only Universal hotel I've stayed at so far, though we plan on coming back) - very impressive!!

Valet was on my PBH bill this morning at $18 but they changed it to $12 self-park without a problem.
Loew's Miami was $30 a night!
