Silly question, but if we have a room stay onsite before and after our cruise, and take Disney's transportation to Port Canaveral, can we leave our car at the hotel? I'd rather leave my car at WDW than at the port if its possible.

Generally, it's allowed. You just need to contact the resort to find out whether or not they will allow it. Sometimes you have to move your car to a more remote location in the lot. Sometimes not.

May I ask why you want to do this? You'll be paying $35.00 per person each way for the DCL transfers (so $70.00 each resort/port & port/resort). Depending on how many of you there are, it may cost more for the transfers. Have you compared this cost to the parking cost at the port? If that matters.

Only two of us so the cost of the transfers might be worth it to us to leave our car at WDW instead of the port.

How long is your cruise? The transfers are going to cost you $140.00. Unless you're taking a 8 night or longer cruise, parking at the port would be cheaper.
Length of Cruise
3 Nights / 4 Day $64.00
4 Nights / 5 Day $80.00
5 Nights / 6 Day $96.00
6 Nights / 7 Day $112.00
7 Nights / 8 Day $128.00
8 Nights / 9 Day $144.00
9 Nights / 10 Day $160.00

Quite possibly a wash when you factor in gas.

Were doing a 4 day cruise, so it sounds like parking would be cheaper. What do you guys think? Sounds like its worth it to avoid the hassle of parking at the port. Does the DCL transfer handle your baggage from the bus to the terminal? I suppose not because you have to go through security, but worth asking :)

If you use DCL transfers, they pick up your baggage in your resort room and transport it by truck to the ship. The next time you see it will be onboard at your room.

We've always used the DCL transfers to get to the ship from the resort or airport.

Well that sounds awesome, you should have opened with that info haha

Getting to and parking at Port Canaveral has to be in if the easiest Tarbell things I've ever done, and it's on my timeline! I don't think you can get to PC from WDW before 1:30, and we had to wait quite awhile for a return shuttle after our cruise.

Driving, we dropped off luggage at curb (took maybe 3 minutes), drove into garage, parked on same level as pedestrian bridge to terminal and got into the terminal lickity-split. When we left, we were at our car very fast and it was cool and depth having been in a garage for a week.

I would be happy to leave car at WDW if the cost savings were significant, but I found driving very easy.

Our Dreams TA, Tammy, just sent us this:
"I did speak with Disney this morning and you used to be able to do this when staying both before and after your cruise at the same resort by asking for a parking pass when you checked into the resort however I was advised this morning that due to current events Disney no longer will allow you to leave your car parked at the resort while you cruise."
