The drive to the port and parking at the port are so simple I can't understand why you wouldn't want to park at the port. Convenience wise it is a great thing to park at port.
The
DCL transfers would be $35 pp each way so for a couple $140.
Parking at the port would be as follows:
Port Canaveral Parking
At Port Canaveral, we offer secure cruise parking at your terminal and ship. Cruise passengers park at their respective terminals and simply take a
short walk to your ship; no need for shuttles.
Parking Rates
Our Parking rates are for the length of the cruise and tax is included in the price. Vehicles longer than 20 feet, such as buses or campers will be charged an oversized fee for parking.

Taking your own car gives you the most flexibility on when to arrive at the port. The DCL bus from WDW leaves no earlier than about 10:45-11:00 to about 12:30-12:45 depending on resort and how many people from each resort are taking the bus. The bus may stop at more than one resort as well. It changes every week. Taking the bus from WDW could get you to the port as late as 1:30 or 1:45.
Just something to take into consideration.
